Tell me why this would be a bad idea.

Big Four Classic in early November - Tournament Event. Friday two games at 4:00 and 7:00. Saturday two games at 1:00 and 4:00. Don't care how the seeding takes place, you could draw numbers for all I care.

• Iowa State
• Iowa
• UNI
• Drake

Get NIL money involved. $100k Base to play in it. Plus bonus below.

• 1st place - $500k
• 2nd place - $350k
• 3rd place - $200k
• 4th place - $50k

Host would rotate between the schools. So Iowa State hosts, then Iowa, then UNI, then Drake or whatever order.

I don't know, thought about it today. Sounds fun, sure there are many arguments behind it.

Would be great for Drake and UNI in terms of NIL money. Would also mean something for Iowa and Iowa State.

First, you can't seed it because Drake and UNI can't play each other.
Second, how does it make sense for Iowa State to play Drake in Iowa City or Iowa to play UNI in Ames. Both schools lose ticket revenue.
Only ways I see Iowa and Iowa State going to CF or DSM is for Drake and Uni to agree to 2 for 1s(still a big question if they even do this), NCAA changing their metrics for resumes and how teams get seeded in the NCAA tourney, or Drake and UNI consistently becoming Dayton or Saint Mary's caliber

No.

I’d be up for hosting Drake one year and UNI the next, at Hilton. Maybe just Drake honestly, there is a lot more tradition with the historic rivalry there.

The home-and-homes went away and I’m more than fine with that. The event at WFA was stale (I went at least 3x). It died and it was fine that it did.

I can't imagine Drake and UNI possibly being more "up" for a game but maybe this would get ISU's out of state and foreign players more on equal footing.

College basketball seems to be trending opposite of football, the big boys might be playing each other MORE out of conference than they used to. Arizona, Uconn, Duke and Florida have already played a year's worth of elite opponents, our non conf isn't quite to that level but the best it's been in years.

Where the **** does this money come from exactly?

I agree. Don’t be doing home and home with mid majors. They can make some money coming to Hilton and taking their beating. Plus we are light years better than UNI and Drake.

Glancing at OU/OKst/KU/KSU

They play WSU/Tulsa/Oral Roberts here and there but it's not at all regular the way we used to play Drake/UNI EVERY SINGLE YEAR for decades.

North Carolina passed a law that pays athletic departments a certain percentage of the gambling tax. Part of the stipulation of that money is they have to play more in-state games.

Maybe Iowa does the same thing with the stipulation that ISU and Iowa play a home and home with UNI in basketball. Not sure what they could do about Drake with them being private.

We are not playing road games at uni and Drake. It’s just not gonna happen.
