PSU Campbell Presser

I was really on the Campbell train until the Oklahoma game in 2020.

Biggest stage you can possibly get, driving for the win, then all of a sudden we have 2 false starts in a row, they dont get the next play in on time, they barely get the snap off and then Brock throws a pick. Why he didn't use his last time out ill never know, but it was coaching malpractice at the highest level.

He then followed that up with the best returning talent in school history and turned Breece Hall and Brock Purdy into a 7-5 team.

I appreciate all he did here, but I haven't really cared much since 2021 if he left or not.
I am sad he left, and I think Penn State probably got one of the better coaches available, but my opinion started to change at last year’s Tech home game. We march down and score with two minutes left to take the lead. We were undefeated. Crowd was rocking. We had the Big 12’s best defensive coordinator. This is it. And then just like that they march down the field and have a quarterback run into end zone for their winning score. I always thought, up until that Tech drive, that was Campbell’s last hurrah and it slowly started to derail and the wheels slowly started to come off. Having that losing streak in the middle of this year was a back breaker and I feel it all started with that last second tech score.

These stadium walks are weird, they did one at Florida too and it was super awkward, like you have to be happy in this moment no matter what, you can see in both instances it was a bit forced.
Very much a "Welcome to our cult" moment when these are done.

I've always thought that stat was a bit unfair to MC because we turned a lot of "blowout" type losses INTO one score games because we didn't give up and allow it to become a multiple score loss. I would bet a decent % of those one score game losses fit that category.

It's not as bad as it looks because it's worse than it looks.

Did he ever wear a suit at ISU?
At his hiring press conference, and then probably never again. He looks to be wearing the same tie in that tweet as at his PSU press conference, so it was likely the same day. He doesn't strike me as a suit guy.

This smells like the Hoiberg thing for me. Chasing the money, i mean, dream, and flames out. Then levels back out somewhere else. Hopefully not a hated rival that could open in a few years . . .

Then he's okay again.

Love Matt. Greatest coach in ISU history (and by far).

Should have had a CycloneFanatic watch party and created a "Hi Bob" type drinking game for every time Matt said:
  • Process
  • Best Version of Yourself
  • Win in the Margins
  • Attention to Details
  • Craft
  • Etc.
Look, I get it. He was the most successful coach in Cyclone history. He seemed destined to stay until retirement.

But…this isn’t the answer. You still have things to live for. We all do.

And alcohol poisoning is not the pleasant way to end it all you think it is.

If he was unsucessful at Penn state then came back to coach at Iowa I think any goodwill he has would go up in flames...

People need to realize that PSU has many more shiny objects then ISU:
-Larger alumni base
-Larger State population
-4-6 hour radius to probably 50% of the United States population
-Lots of Money/very large donor base
-Top facilities and continue to dump sizable money into renovations
-Athletic budget that is probably 3-4x's ISU budget
-Double the number of heads in the athletic dept
-A state that supports the university from $ standpoint
-Transportation for recruiting: multiple jets/helicopter
-Massive production team to create content
-The list goes on....

But they will always be little brother to the Buckeyes

How quickly you all forget his early ISU posts.

*Coach and player

I am not sure what people expect of him...don't look for or watch for updates about him if you don't want to see things like this! He is going to do all he can for Penn State now...that is what he is supposed to do! There were a lot of tweets/video clips of him that we all loved in the past decade. This is no different. I wanted him here forever but that isn't happening and I don't blame him one bit!

And Wolverines.
Michigan is in choppy waters with their coach. Also, it took Jimmy H to cheat and get Michigan back. I wouldn't be surprised if they back to the Hoke/Rich Rod years.

But from resources, money, etc standpoint, Michigan is up there

When you say big ten, you think OSU and Mich first. They have been there a lot longer also. Penn st didn’t join until around 1990.

Listening to this is not fun, but man doesn't it make us sound like we are poverty program. Pate should never set foot back on the Ames campus. A lot of " With all do respect"
