Assistant Coaches

One issue with Roehl is he has to complete the Lion's season before joining the team unless granted permission by the team. I don't know if that affects the public announcement or what degree he can meet members of the team and whatnot behind the scenes, but I imagine he will not be here before the portal opens.

Roehl could do what Tavita Pritchard did with the Commanders. Granted, it was for the HC job at Stanford.

So, despite Montgomery being there we would want to root against DET making playoffs?

Looks like their season would end Jan 4th vs CHI (if no playoffs.)

Portal is Jan 2nd - Jan 16th.

The good thing about it, who we root for has no response in the physical world. We got no say in it. Root away for whomever.

The portal at ISU fully opens December 13th though, if I understand their rules on coaches leaving that were reported here.

keep in mind Rogers is bringing in an entirely new defensive system. Besides everything else, this will definitely impact who stays and goes. Sounds like there is a real opportunity on the offensive side to keep coaches if there’s any mutual interest.
I, for one, will not miss the 3-3-5. Good luck to CMC stopping the running games of the B1G with that mess if he stays with it.

Also in play, what is Roehl's long-term goal? If he wants to be a college head coach then coming back to Iowa State as OC would position him for the jump to college HC.
Also to piggy back in this why is everyone so high on him? I'm not knocking it. I'm just not familiar with what he has done to make him one of the top choices.

I would say that just announcing it is good enough for recruiting. If he's the guy, you just say he'll be joining the staff after the NFL season.

Yea, I wouldn't feel its important for a known commodity like Roehl to be on the ground at ISU. Sure it would be better. But most existing players know who he is. And for guys we're trying to keep/attract (HS & Portal), probably more important to know who their position coach is going to be.

If a kid is concerned about what type of system ISU is going to run, I'm sure that Jimmy Rogers can speak to that. Coordinators runs systems that meet HC approval.

I don't know what an executive special teams quality control analyst does, but I feel like Robert Grande was paid roughly $120,000 too much.

I’m guessing the pay will go down from last group. JP cutting into the 20.5

I kinda wonder if MC got him to come to ISU as associate head coach with the idea he'd be considered for OC if Scheelhausse left. He jumped after a year to the NFL, a couple weeks before Mouser was named OC.

They will not run a 3-3-5 at Penn State. They switched to it here because it's easier to recruit defensive backs than defensive lineman. With the money he has now that will not be an issue.

For anyone that watches/follows MVFC football closely, what did Roehl’s offenses look like when he was OC at NDSU.
