I couldn't find a pregame thread for the Iowa game, so I guess I'll start one.

Time to welcome Mr. McCollum and his band of Drake....i mean Iowa.... players to Hilton Magic.

This rivalry game always makes me nervous, and Iowa is off to a solid start. As of right now, it looks like we're a 6.5 point favorite. I'm no gambler, but I'd bet on us to cover.

I think our biggest opponent Thursday night will be ourselves, not Iowa. In short, can we keep our focus after going on the road and curb stomping the #1 team in the nation?

Well if there's one thing TJ excels in, it's keeping our guys focused.

The talent gap is just so big. They don’t have anyone who would play for us but Stirtz.

I think it will be ISU's toughest game to date.

Iowa isn't good but McCollum is a good coach and will have some things on the dockett to neutralize ISU, and ISU will need to make shots.

He knows Iowa fans would never shut up about beating a good ISU team in Hilton and that's big for the program and 'good for the state' and all that garbage.

In fan karma, 20 point win predictions tend to not pan out and I can only see it being close somehow.

Before anyone says 'but Purdue', that was fantastic but a different game on a different day means nothing for the next one.

Each half?

TJ won't be able to out scheme them. Hope our execution level and talent disparity wins out.
TJ just out schemed Matt Painter, I think he can out scheme what's his nuts. I think the key for Iowa here, though, is what their 3rd, 4th and 5th options can do, because we are going to make life very difficult for what they want to do.

Very underrated sentence right here.

Pressure the hell out of Stirtz. I think Iowa will play us well for the first 10 minutes, but I think we should win fairly comfortably.

The key against a slow grinder team like this is to get up early. Start hot!
The problem with playing at such a glacial pace like Iowa does is if you get down by double-digits, you have to shut down the other team for long periods of time to get back in it.

Curious why you think that? I have seen TJ out scheme Sampson, Pitino, Painter, and Self. Curious why you think he can’t with McCollum?
Because you win doesn't necessarily mean you out schemed them also doesn't mean you have to out scheme someone to win.

What we are going to throw at Iowa isn't going to surprise them and they'll have a counter. Can we adjust? Can we execute? So far this year we have but college bball can be funny.

No one expected us to beat Purdue by 20+pts and no one is going to expect Iowa to win. Iowa got their ass kicking by MSU and they responded well. I think this game might be tougher then we expect.

But it is silly to say a home game against your instate unrated rival will be tougher than a road game at the #1 team. They could lose any game, and this is a bit of a trap if the team starts to get to high on themselves but it is not tougher.
