Looks like snagging Buchanan over Cluff worked out in our favor. Buchanan fits our O and D so much better. We need a 5 with bounce and will run the floor at all times, not a giant sloth.

He looks so much better than I thought he'd be, huge pickup in the portal.

The guy I’m most impressed with is Toure. When they talk about Iowa State being a boa constrictor. He and Buchanan are the mouth of the boa.

When Tamin gets reasonably healthy he and Toure will be a nightmare tandem defensively.

I remember the Houston blizzard game and between Tamin, Gilbert, Shead and Cryer I didn’t think I’d ever see more intense backcourt D pressure like that again. Tamin and Toure are going to top that.

This may sound dumb but I think the next big step is Pleta getting better on the boards. He’s really good at getting one hand on the ball. Against these bigger teams we may need him on the boards

Which is the point.

You can't take one game as a definition for how things are going to be (that includes today), especially an exhibition game with new players playing together on the road in a game between coaches that are friends that probably involved TJ telling McD to give his guys some tough looks.

You can certainly take it a scrimmage as foreshadowing to a degree. Buchanan was obviously very much here for defense. He was a career 48 percent shooter before this year and was primarily a 5 ft from the bucket scorer. He’s shooting almost 68 percent this year. No one could have predicted that.
