Great article, Rob Gray! It’s reassuring and exciting to learn about Jimmy Rogers so quickly. Seems like a disciplined, committed winner. He even just took over a program last year that had player upheaval with a coaching change and filled out his roster well. Got to believe he’ll do it again here.

TJ is not a guy who would vouch strongly for someone if he didn't believe in him entirely. If he has TJ's respect at that level, I am very excited to see the kind of mentality that this guy brings to the program.

I think it's a bit hyperbolic to say insiders on here are saying TJ has "one foot out the door".

Without getting into premium material too far, I think it could be said some of Campbell's frustrations extend past the football program and into other sports (not just MBB).

I'll leave it at that.

I don't like Pollard. Especially after what I've been learning the past 48 hours. But I don't recall anyone in the know saying TJ has one foot out the door.

I know calling him "Matt Campbell 2.0" is not about putting those expectations on him.

And I am certainly not about to immediately expect 9+ wins or going back in the Big 12 champ game next year.

But I do expect to keep the positive culture and effort alive and where it is been at. It could result in a 6-6 season in 2026, could be 11-1, could be 3-9. no clue W/L wise at this point. Way too early to predict ofc. But my expectation for Coach Rogers is to buy into the Cyclone way and 5 star culture that's been cultivated here and continue to produce as well as build upon that.

He will need to recognize that if ISU fans see a team that gives up, takes plays off, or makes boneheaded/undisciplined penalties, they won't accept it not being cleaned up for very long.

It’s not so much that nobody could do what Matt did, but he turned down quite a few offers before this one. If Roger’s wins even in year 1 or 2 he’ll get good offers, that’s how it works now. The expanded unlimited cash leagues or just going to constantly role the dice any time a coach can’t win. I’m shocked Rhule got extended, Nebraska are idiots for that.

Yeah, on 247 they seem pissed on principle. But not mad about him specifically.

He was only there for a year. Hard to get attached to someone brand new in a Year for one of the more beat down fan bases out there.

The Athletic Director has to try to keep all those alpha dogs happy. Coaches in big revenue sports like FB and MBB are always going to want more- pay (them or their assts), facilities, travel budget, recruiting budget, etc. Now they are battling over House & NIL $.

Athletic Director's have to worry about all the above, plus fundraising, compliance and Title IX. Everything I've read/heard is that most schools are allocating 90-95% of the House Settlement money to FB & MBB. I can pretty much guarantee there is going to be a Title IX lawsuit in the next few years citing the 90-95% payouts to men's athletes isn't proportionate. So I am sure a good Athletic Directors are trying to protect their schools by their distribution of House/NIL $.

Jamie isn't the only AD having to deal with it. But ISU's annual revenues are on the low end, so he doesn't have the flexibility that most schools have from a historical budget (aka ISU around $115M, whereas Iowa is around $175M+). And then there are schools fundraising $20M+ for in-house NIL beyond the $22M House Settlement $.
