Matt Campbell to Penn State??

I don't think it's clear at all that people aren't referring to people like me.

And further, I think it's preposterous on principle that they want to impose an even larger surcharge on every student at ISU to support athletics. Am I the problem now?
Part of the reason you are asked to do more is because others won't don't do anything ever think about that?

Really? I would read that the other way...I wouldn't meet with the president if I were leaving...not rude or anything...just not necessary to meet.
Campbell is a better person than most coaches around the country. I could see him talking and telling her. But it could just be them meeting for an extension. We shall see.

It's a total first world problem, trying to decide between which multi-million dollar job he wants, but I don't envy him. I have no doubt he loves it here. I have no doubt he's proud of what he's built. I have no doubt that he's smart enough to know the pressure cooker he'd be walking into at PSU. But I can also understand feeling like you've hit a ceiling here. The funding isn't what it needs to be to field a nationally competitive roster. Your absolute ceiling is probably maybe winning the Big 12 and getting housed in the playoff. I can understand the idea of wanting to be somewhere that you know you have the resources you need to compete at the highest of high levels.

Definitely a tough choice. Maybe should put a call in to Fred about how chasing a bigger job worked out for him...

I agree...he might feel the need to explain his thinking to her as he leaves...but he could also do that over the phone...especially if the decision has already been made. Again...meeting or no meeting doesn't give a definite outlook on what is to come...hopefully sometime today (staying or leaving)!

During that whole thing it was always said the Big Ten and NCAA couldn’t punish PSU because the crimes were decades ago…then Baylor was busted for a very comparable level of mass rape in real time right as it was happening and the conference and NCAA did pretty much the exact same almost zero punishment (even female leaders backed the present day rapists). The two universities did next to nothing in an effort to repair their crime syndicate image, f them both forever.

Do you meet with the president if you know you are leaving?
I think if you're Matt Campbell and even 10% of the image you've portrayed the last 10 years is genuine, you absolutely sit down with university leadership face-to-face regardless of the decision you're making.

I'm a 25 year season ticket holder and donor - and now tuition-payer - who's tired being told it's not enough.
You aren’t the target of those comments, you are doing your part. Not all Cyclones fans are cheap, that’s a sweeping generalization. However, it’s a smaller subset that contribute and travel. It’s those on the sidelines that the comment was meant for. I did a poll here a few year ago and half the Fanatics here don’t financially support the AD in any way. Imagine what the percentage is among the broader base.

If 280,000 Cyclone fans just gave $100 last year it would have matched Texas Tech’s entire football NIL budget.
This is exactly what A&M did when they were in the B12. A grass roots effort called the Century Club. I would see the stickers on cars all over Houston.

My gut is he is using this as a leverage to negotiate a new contract to increase the pay to his coaches.
I think that was the last extension. I don't disagree this is about leverage, but less so for his personal pay and more about the NIL situation.
