And you're saying he and others show up and are indicating "it's always your fault.""Does anyone not understand that as a fanbase we need to stop being so cheap?"
Definitely not blaming fans, lol.
I think blaming fans is not the way to go. Especially here. Everyone on this site has contributed in some way. Going to a game helps. Watching on tv helps. Listening on the radio helps. Even accidentally clicking on the pop-up ads when you are trying to click the x on CF helps. Not all of them do maybe 20% of the fan base provided 95% of the money to keep the operation going.
ISU fans are a thrifty bunch
Some because they are financially forced into that situation. Others because they are just choose to be. The first group I get it. The second group are a mystery.
ISU fans can be stingy, I don't think many people would argue against that. At the same time, the schools with all the money have enough people with FU money that irrationally will do whatever financially is necessary to win. Iowa State doesn't have too many of those types and they are what drives the big numbers. I don't know how else schools like LSU have a couple hundred million to burn other than having enough high wealth people who are determined to spend to win at most any cost.
I don't think it's as simple as "blame the fans" to simply state that our fan base is notoriously cheap (we are) and Matt is very much underpaid (his is).
Huh... Derek Jeter only gave out gift baskets with autographed baseballs. Kate definitely out to show him up!I slept with Kate Upton last night. Was paid handsomely. I feel gross this morning but anything for Matt Campbell.
If 280,000 Cyclone fans just gave $100 last year it would have matched Texas Tech’s entire football NIL budget. But what if I only have $100?
And you're saying he and others show up and are indicating "it's always your fault."
ISU fans most likely don't donate as much as our peers, it's just the way it is. I'm not killing you or anyone else that doesn't donate.
Except you don't understand that NIL and program funding is 80% funded by rich donors. Look around and you'll see everyday Iowa state fans exceedingly pulling their weight. This is about not having the rich donors.I don't think BC is blaming the fans. It's just reality and it's not football specific. If many of us were chasing a dream, working 100 hrs a week, and believe we can attain it with a 50-75% salary increase to boot, we'd consider bouncing.
I personally don't blame anyone for giving or not giving or choosing to give to something else. We're all in a different spot in life. But there's no reason to shoot the messenger telling a hard truth.
Those things don't really count though, you have to do more...more...more.Someone help me, I'm having trouble reconciling the conventional wisdom that ISU fans are cheap with the objective fact that ISU fans have a reputation for strong attendance and traveling well. Seems like those two things would be at odds with each other!
It's really that we are missing the rich whose wealth isn't tied up in low liquidity assets. I would also say ISU's alum are disproportionately farmers who fit this demographic.Someone help me, I'm having trouble reconciling the conventional wisdom that ISU fans are cheap with the objective fact that ISU fans have a reputation for strong attendance and traveling well. Seems like those two things would be at odds with each other!
I just hope we hear within something soon... I am not going to be getting much work done today otherwise
As a side topic, some of the best moments of this site's history have been people donating to St Baldricks for Chris to shave his head or to Blanks Hospital when Pollard got fined. This is bull crap. Fans and donors give plenty. Use that hundred dollars to help a family in need this Christmas time.
They fly Allegiant/SW in the no upgrades seats or carpool with 12 people in a 2005 Suburban, they sleep 8 to a room and buy the cheapest scalped ticket possible and move down when no one is looking. (Been there, done that or have friends that did)Someone help me, I'm having trouble reconciling the conventional wisdom that ISU fans are cheap with the objective fact that ISU fans have a reputation for strong attendance and traveling well. Seems like those two things would be at odds with each other!
Its usually the same group of people they do what you say above. Those fans also donate as well. At least a majority of themSomeone help me, I'm having trouble reconciling the conventional wisdom that ISU fans are cheap with the objective fact that ISU fans have a reputation for strong attendance and traveling well. Seems like those two things would be at odds with each other!
You should sell a kidney. If we could get more of you NIL lovers to sell body parts we could be competitive. Not saying you have to, but if you don’t you obviously don’t want to winIf 280,000 Cyclone fans just gave $100 last year it would have matched Texas Tech’s entire football NIL budget.
They may have simply overlooked him or figured he wouldn't be interested. But it's important to appreciate the effect of bookending the 4-game losing streak with wins before and after. Had we ended up 6-6 or even 7-5, I think Campbell would have been a less attractive candidate. Then why wasn’t he their first choice?
$99 to ISU and $1 to the soup kitchen or whatever he said it was.But what if I only have $100?
