Matt Campbell to Penn State??

So, what happened tonight that the betting odds on CMC to Penn St are skyrocketing?

Earlier today the odds were 5-7%

Now tonight its up to 27-30% and he is currently just behind Smith, in second.

Something must be being reported tonight that has people putting the money on him.

because they’re running out of people

I would make the case that Nebraska is already out. They have been mediocre for a quarter century now. And on top of that, they don't seem to have any path back to national relevance. They don't have a recruiting advantage, the brand doesn't hold blue blood like value with younger generations, they don't have a money or facilities advantage over their peers.

Last top 10 finish was 2001, 24 years ago.
They only have 7 bowl wins this century.
They recently went 7 consecutive years without a winning season.
Last time they won their division was 2012 in the pitiful B1G West.
Only had a winning conference record once in last 11 years.
Have lost 10 of 11 to ToE, including 7 straight in Lincoln.

There is a lot of ancient history to prop them up on that graph, but I would consider their status already revoked. I think the comparison to an Indiana basketball is a good one.
Correct. Nebraska lost blue blood status 20 years ago. No one following college football regards them as any sort of power. They’re lumped in with Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan St, Illinois, Northwestern.

Josh Pate was pushing him in his podcast.

I mean non of that changed since late afternoon.

Unless someone else was pulled off the board tonight that I am not aware of.

He was sitting at 5% chance far behind several others at like 6pm, then bang something caused it to skyrocket.

I know this doesnt mean anything, but someone must have pushed his name to cause such a jump in such a short time.
It is also a value of kalshi algorithm and the people buying or selling.

It is certainly an interesting move.

But I’m not convinced.

This was last nights show though right, that should not have caused such a bump tonight I would not think. At least I would have expected a bump after USF took one of their front runners, but that also didnt cause the bump. Something changed tonight.

I’m really not relishing the role of squeaky wheel, but the anxiety won’t let me stop:

If Campbell has any desire to coach in the Big 10 this is the absolute perfect job.

Campbell is the nearly the perfect candidate, and a far, far better option than any other name that has been floated (except maybe DeBoer?).

I’ve been nervous since Franklin was fired, but given where the search is now I think it is probably reasonable to be concerned.

If this is causing you anxiety, maybe try to do something to occupy your mind. If he leaves, he leaves. Life will go on. ISU will go on.

unrelated but these gambling sites that somehow skirt around being gambling websites like Kalshi are the worst. Doing a sports bet every once in a while is fun but can we not insert gambling into every aspect of our lives?

There was an Athletic article that came out last night or this morning that had Campbell as 2nd on their list. 1st was DeBoer
