Franklin beat us to them. He's got the #22 class at Virginia Tech.
I would make the case that Nebraska is already out. They have been mediocre for a quarter century now. And on top of that, they don't seem to have any path back to national relevance. They don't have a recruiting advantage, the brand doesn't hold blue blood like value with younger generations, they don't have a money or facilities advantage over their peers.
Last top 10 finish was 2001, 24 years ago.
They only have 7 bowl wins this century.
They recently went 7 consecutive years without a winning season.
Last time they won their division was 2012 in the pitiful B1G West.
Only had a winning conference record once in last 11 years.
Have lost 10 of 11 to ToE, including 7 straight in Lincoln.
There is a lot of ancient history to prop them up on that graph, but I would consider their status already revoked. I think the comparison to an Indiana basketball is a good one.
Most of that is true except the facilities. They have one of the top facilities in the country.

Can you find a non Nebraska source that says that? Obv facilities rankings are kinda stupid and very subjective but I have never heard them talked about on that level in the modern game. Are we sure it isn’t like most things Nebraska and it’s based off of years past?

I'd move Georgia and LSU up one tier and Nebraska and USC down in their place. The rest, outside of UCLA and Arkansas, I would agree upon.
So I would say even if you accept this facilities list as accurate, it shows that facilities alone won't get you winning at blue bloods levels. You have schools like Wake Forest, Northwestern, Maryland, Kentucky, and North Carolina on here. If that is the only part of Nebraska that is elite today, there is no path for them to get back to the good old days level of success.
I’ve had elite athletes (not Nebraska) tell me that Nebby’s were considered among the best by the athletes themselves. When I worked for the Iowa State Athletic Department, Nebby’s years ago had the reputation of top facilities and I’ve been told by people I trust Nebraska is among the top now.

When you fire a guy for a 3-3 start after making the semi final of the college football playoff the year before, it doesn’t set the precedent that you are a program that will give your coach much of a chance. This reminds me of the coaching search after Nebraska fired Solich after going 9-3 and settling on Bill Callahan, only I think this was worse.
