WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Several teams are surprising us this year. Some for the better, some for the worse. Duke & N.C. State both had high rankings, but have already lost 3 games. NCSt just lost today to Rhode Island - ouch. Dukes last loss was to USF and now their next two games are against #2 SC & #5 LSU - double ouch. They could salvage their season if they win one of those two. LOL

Texas Tech now sets at 7-0 with their last 4 wins being against Arkansas, SMU, Mississippi St, & New Mexico. These four are not ranked but they are normally a little above average. In years past Tech would have really been doing well just to split those 4 games.

#4 Texas was up on #3 UCLA by 20 and than had to hang on to win. Texas and #2 South Carolina play tomorrow. Lot of Top 10 action there. Not sure on all of the injuries and such but UCLA only played 6 players and Texas only seven.

#21 West Virginia lost to Ohio State.

Was interesting to catch Duke/SC out here in Vegas. Every time SC was seemingly ready to put Duke away they took the foot off the gas and let them hang around. But in the end…

Not a final but sure looking like Iowa is going to take it to Western Illinois.
Damn I hope we play well in Hilton December 10th, we haven't faired well against them lately.

I would think that will be the first "real test" unless Marquette is better than most think. Then the 21st (KU) and the 4th (BU). Get by those three tests and you should be knock knock knocking on heavens door.

Iowa has some good wins…nothing really great as I think Baylor is overrated due to what was thought to be a big win over a Duke team that hasn’t shown up yet. But I still think they are well coached and have the talent to beat many teams including the Sisters if the team goes flat at any point in the game. If the Sisters play solid all the way through they will win.

TT is fun to watch - Bristow had 18 points and 10 boards in 24 minutes versus New Mexico. Snuda Collins is looking like the sixth man of the year winner. They don’t need Bailey Maupin to score to win games.

While they appear much improved, they don’t have the inside brawn to challenge ISU -

And let’s see how Bristow does when she has to deal with Paulk.

Made me check box score. Seem to be playing pretty okay without their point guard. Thought they might struggle some. Had to look to see who was PG, didn't know which of the their guards could play point. Didn't know their sophomore Stremlow was a PG in HS. Do see their post, Heiden, had 4 fouls in 18 minutes, still had a double-double but that will be a HUGE issue vs Crooks.

Think we win a close one in Hilton. Teams matchup well (assuming their PG is back), at least as much as anyone can actually matchup versus Crooks. The only thing I worry about is having not playing anyone that can give us a game. Looking at schedule and Iowa will already have gone on the road in league play to take on Rutgers (not likely a good team but still a roadie). And they have played Baylor, who in spite of everything looks to play really good defense. So they have an edge on us, maybe, in prep but we are the more experienced team and will be in Hilton with what should be a sellout.

^ And just killing time spitballin' before a take a short roadie for some turkey supper.

Texas beats #3 UCLA and than #2 South Carolina in back-to-back game. I don't think they are better than UConn but that should earn them some #1 votes.

Kansas State lost by 12 to #12 North Carolina in one of the those Cancun hotel ballroom games. 4th quarter looked to maybe make the game look closer than it was.

OSU Cowgirls beats some American League team. Kansas will be playing 7-0 Georgia so at least a big league matchup.

Games tomorrow are better for Big 12:
  • OSU vs Miami (only loss to Iowa) and
  • KSU vs South Dakota State
  • BYU vs #17 Vandy
