Pass rush was lacking this year and the more competition the better.

I'm thinking him and Jack Limbaugh will be in the mix at DE next year.

Absolutely it is.

Easier to find LBs than DEs, so play to your strengths - more LBs (and safeties/stars/whatever) and less DEs.

Not being a B1G/$EC golden shower school adds to the difficulty of recruiting DL.

They recruit hordes of elite DL there, way more than can play, then the kids figure it out and Portal down.

Agree with you there, sadly those have been his only two sacks of the season. 25 tackles this season and I do know stats don't always tell the story with DL, but there have been a few games where he was a non-factor too.

Defensive End is a position we have to have major improvements in if we want to sniff a Big 12 Championship game again in the future. Lack of pass rush was very clear this year. You don't have a pass rush, you never keep the opposing QB uncomfortable. If you don't consistently make the opposing QB uncomfortable, less incompletions, less 3 and outs, and less picks for our defense. It goes beyond sacks and yes sacks are a part of it.

T. McDonough was just a guy (did play well in the Iowa game). The Tulsa transfer was a flier who didn't work out.

We need to see what we have next season in some of the young guys. Jack Limbaugh at DE was GREAT on special teams this year, I'm excited about him. I like how we have a juco DE now to also fortify some of the pipeline coming up.

Limbaugh has 1 tackle. Guess that is 'great' performance.

25 tackles & 2 sacks seems like a fair bit more performances than a special teams player having 1 tackle on the season.
McDonough has been pretty good against the run, plus he's been dinged. Lot more to go by than stats alone.
I'm more excited for Verdon. Has flashed some twitch the times he's been in.

Unfortunately, the transfer we lost probably had the biggest impact. Admittedly, it was the only A&M game I've watched this year, but Tyler Onyetum (sp?) looked really good for them.

You are obviously wrong here. Sacks are the only thing that matters. Who cares if you lose contain, like that’s a big deal. Who cares if you can’t hold the edge and force things back in side. Those things don’t matter. Like you know football.

Absolutely valid point. My disappointment is in the lack of pressure/sacks alone.
