Players Era

All reference pods.
Right, and the first two explicitly say that the championship game is pod winner vs. pod winner and the third-place game is pod runner-up vs. pod runner-up.

That said, I don't know what to believe now...other than to believe that Players Era really should have published the official rules in this regard.

Very glad Cyclones are playing well this week and feel like they can take down anyone in this field.

That said. Having things like point differential and an unclear path to name a champion, with the back drop of Vegas...just feels greasy. Real greasy.

Assuming the reporting about 1st/2nd from each pod is accurate, and ignoring further down tiebreak rules:

If St. John's beats Baylor:
  • Iowa State goes to the championship game if Auburn beats Michigan by less than 8
  • Iowa State goes to the third-place game otherwise
Looks like SJU is going to beat Baylor.

So, we need an Auburn win over Michigan by 1 to 7 points, right?

If pods matter, yes. If they don’t, we need:

Houston to beat Tennesee by less than 14 (or Tennessee win by less than 3)

Auburn beat Michigan by less than 7

Gonzaga beat Maryland by less than 8 (or lose)

If Houston wins, would Iowa State play Houston for the third-place game?
The reporting out there says that for the champion game and third-place game, they are not reseeding based on avoiding regular season matchups. For the consolation games, they are rearranging schedules to avoid those.

I'm watching ESPN's Terry's Chocolate Invitational. Disney is going to have to pony up a lot more money.

Haven't read much of this thread and criteria to make championship game. But it seems like w/l record of opponents in event should be the 2nd criteria vs. point differential.

So criteria for being in the money game should be:
  1. Team Has 2-0 record
  2. Team's two Opponents have 2-2 record in event
  3. Point Differential
If there aren't 2 or more teams whose opponents have 2-2 record, then bring teams whose opponents were 1-3 in event and then consider point differential.

So i agree with you totally. Its just like college football except for the few years the computers picked the title game. Other than that it was more about front of jersey than what you actually did in the year.

It is kind of ridiculous that ISU played in the most highly competitive and perhaps most anticipated game, not just in this tournament, but ALL WEEK... and we're going to get punished for it simply because it was two equally-matched high end teams and we could only get a 1-pt win as a result.

And it kind of happened 2 years in a row with Auburn last year.

I have to give them credit. The confusing way the teams get seeded for the "championship" keeps eyes on the tv which in the end is what matters.
