I admit I was skeptical, beat me over my head with a wet noodle.
Was it me but the td before gave the team extra juice then this play really seemed to snap them out of their funk.
LBs were getting up field on run plays in particular, hence our higher numbers of TFLs this game - which is key for this defense (as Heacock has said many a time)
Surges! Yes! He had a heck of a game, run support & passes defended. The defense had the juice (being led by Big Citrus, you'll get that)
I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseum, but there were 3 really bad calls in that game - 2 on TCU's second TD drive. Note that I was watching the first half on mute, so maybe I missed an explanation.
1) the double-pass intentional grounding. I was absolutely sure that grounding is off the table if you leave the pocket or if the ball exchanges hands. is there really a separate rule for a double pass?
2) the late hit on Bacon. They missed a clear block in the back that pushed Bacon into the QB, so it's a 25 yard swing.
3) the holding on Bell in the end zone - the receiver clearly grabbed his facemask, so it should have been 2nd and Goal from the 20.
Glad we won the game anyway, but those were egregious misses from the refs. Replay should be able to (quickly) overturn obvious misses like that.

I think that play was on third down so it would have been declined and be 4th and goal. Agree on the rest.
(Edit: bawbie you are right it would have been 2nd and goal from the 20.)
Sidenote my goodness there was a lot of hot women at the tail gates and at the game. Short shorts and cowboy boots is a great look!

Great game by the defense. No major coverage breakdowns. Just a gutsy performance.
Special Teams did their job and Flora’s return was the difference maker.
Offense has a long ways to go. Rocco is still way off. drops are not helping but his accuracy is terrible right now.
Hopefully the late game plays gave him some confidence. I think it would be wise to get Manske some reps because I still don’t trust Rocco.
Eli Green needs to be in the game mor because he is our most reliable pass catcher.

For those of you complaining about Rocco not running more…he’s dinged up. That’s why they aren’t. Exactly like when Brock was dinged up.
Go back to about pg 58 to see the "fans" that gave up on the game, coaches, and players. The only things worse than that is you guys never walk it back, and you'll do it again.
The tackle box exception applies only to the player who controls the snap. If the second player throws it away, they can absolutely be tagged with grounding.
You could argue that the intended receiver was being held and therefore prevented from getting into the "area," but that would never get called.
I'm bummed out. I was planning to watch a replay of the game and sync John and Eric's play by play through the Varsity app. However, it doesn't look the game replay is available on the Varsity app, unless I'm too stupid to find it, which is entirely possible.
It’s like the ESPN+ app. It’s there, you just have to scroll forever to the on demand section.
