Monte Morris signs with the Indiana Pacers, becoming the sixth former Cyclone to play for Indiana.

What is his minutes outlook given their roster and Haliburton taking the season off to recover?

Would think he'd be in line for a decent role, at least initially. Pacers are pretty banged up in the back court. Nembhard hasn't played since 1st game (shoulder) and Mathurin since 2nd game (foot). Quenton Jackson out with a hamstring, obviously Hali. So he'll play a lot right away for sure.

Hopefully Morris can steady them a bit. This season, the Pacers' total assist leaders for the season are Pascal Siakam, Jarace Walker, RayJ Dennis, and Ben Sheppard. For more context for those who don't follow the NBA, that's a PF, a PF, a 2nd-year PG who has already played twice as many minutes in the NBA this year as he did last year, and a SG.

I'd guess he plays a lot, he might even start. Andrew Nembhard has been out since the first game of the season and Quenton Jackson just pulled a hammy so they don't really have a true point guard right now.

TJ McConnell is out with a hamstring injury too. Their team is decimated right now. Morris should get a bunch of run.

Their current injury list
Furphy - Out until at least Nov 15th
Jackson - Out until at least Nov 15th
Mathurin - GTD
Nembhard - GTD
Toppin - Out until at least Feb 2nd
Jones - Out until at least Nov 11th
McConnell - Out until at least Nov 11th
Hali - Out for Season

Thank god the Pelicans are horribly run franchise. They owned the Pacers unprotected 2026 first rounder but traded it back to Indy for #23 pick in 2025. Of course that trade happened during the finals and just a few days before Tyrese tore his achilles. Now the Pacers are looking certain to be in the lottery and likely one of the worst teams in the league at this rate. Could be a very high draft pick in a better draft class that they'll have.

The Pacers should be just fine after some of these injuries clear up. I've seen them called the "best worst team in the league" to start the season because nobody is playing.

He bumped McLung. Short handed as they are idk why you don't just keep that guy too. What the heck are they playing for rn. Trying to win something without Hali? I guess they can sneak in the playoffs perhaps.

Monte will help them immediately. Their PG play has not been very good with Nembhard and TJ injured.

Siakam and Walker have always been good passers. They are way more point forwards then power forwards.

Yeah they need mulitple backup true pgs. They are down the best true point guard in basketball, an incredibly talented combo guard, and maybe the best backup pg in basketball. Just massive loss at that one position.

They're definitely above-average passers for their size, but I don't think they're at the level where a team would want them to be the primary facilitators. Siakam has never cracked 6 assists per game, for instance.

Post season or end of games your right. Majority of the season it doesn’t matter. There’s no pressure defense and lots of iso ball. Pacers are a little different because they want everyone to be able to pass

Joker is the best passing big man ever (maybe just best passer at any position) and even the Nuggets need a few point guards on the roster to play with him.
