We are little brother

I don't agree with the "little brother" assessment at all. I think that's total b.s., but good god dude we have posts all the time from ISU fans criticizing our crowds for big conference games. Other than the "little brother" bs he's pretty spot on. Iowa generally has to be in the dumps pretty bad before people quit showing up there or quit cheering. I seriously think some of it is just in our DNA from being lifelong ISU fans in that other than Iowa and Nebraska when they were in the conference that football is kind of "meh". We are the more loyal and close knit fanbase. Honestly most of my Iowa fans would agree.
You also seem to lack the understanding or maybe the compassion that there are a lot of people that go to games that physically cant stand the entire game. These people may not have outward signs of having a physical handicap, but you seem to label all these types of people as complainers because they dont want to look at your back for an entire game.

You know what I would have every right to be butt hurt about that, because I for one am someone that cant stand for an entire game. I have pretty significant nerve damage in one leg that makes it impossible. Most of the time I show few signs of the issue if you dont know what to look for, beyond a slight limp at times when it is really bothering, or when I have had to stand for far too long in one spot!!!! I could be one that gets a handicap spot, but I choose to sit in regular stands, because I can physically get to those seats, and want to leave the handicap spots for people that physically cant. I have also taken my mother, to watch her grandkids play/dance etc. She has had cancer in her leg, has had 1/2 her quad removed, has a rod in her leg and broke her kneecap among other things that cause her some significant physical limitations. She physically can not stand for an entire game, but according to you, she would be a complainer because she wants to see her granddaughter dance on the sidelines!!! Instead of looking at the ass standing in front of her!!! Seriously.

You know one thing I can do.. I can cheer just as loud and probably louder than most, from my seat, just as well as anyone standing. I dont understand the infatuation with people standing, there are seats for a reason use them. You can yell and cheer sitting just like you can standing.

No I totally get that. I was just saying that Iowa's game day crowds are more rabid and hostile. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say there are lots of Iowa fans that are older and have issues too. I think its awesome that our older fans still go to games. I mean Green Bay has as good of fans as there are in the league but I've never heard anyone say Lambeau is a hostile and super loud crowd. Its a tough play to play for sure.

I'm not sure you can tell how rabid our crowd is when whoever is running the show the last couple years thinks "atmosphere" is "crank the video board up to a million". Honestly seems like it sucks the energy out of the crowd

The weather was bad so our fans cut out? JFC we were in the game until the end. You're kind of making my point. Yes I've seen Kinnick Stadium be dismal at times though.
It was all of it. Team was playing like utter trash for the 4th week in a row.

Our fans bought tickets, showed up, and left when the team didn’t show up.

There isn’t a program in the country that’s received more one-sided fan buy in over the years. If someone doesn’t want to watch bad football in bad weather I can’t be critical of it, and there’s not a fanbase in the country that would tolerate it

The PA has been obnoxiously loud ever since the screen was installed on the north end what 15-20 years ago?

That's the thing though. Show up and help them get on the right track. We all knew how much we needed that win.

Since 2018, I have been on the sidelines taking pictures for 27 P4 games between Ames, Iowa City, and Madison. What I have seen this year has convinced me that we are still little brother. Why do I say that? The fans.

Kinnick is far and away a louder and tougher environment to play than Jack Trice. "But JustBecause, its because their stadium is set up better for sound." You would not be wrong in saying that. The pictures below highlight the differences in spacing between the field and the fans at both locations. The fans in Kinnick are considerably closer. There are as many as 13 rows of fans behind the other teams bench before our first row.

But thats not what I am talking about. The 1st half of the BYU game was the first game this season, where fans were loud the whole time. And then the fans quit. We had a 4 point lead and it took 3rd down and the PA announcer to get people to stand up and make noise. Kinnick is loud even when they are on offense and they shouldnt be. With the exception of a couple of endzone sections, they stand the entire game.

I saw a number of people on twitter calling out the south endzone for only being partially full during the game and for good reason.

However the East side isnt much better:

Add in the West side of the stadium sitting on their hands most of the game and there you have it.

"But JustBecause, the team is playing poorly and they arent giving us anything to cheer about." No. Its our jobs as fans to create the environment and help them even when they are down. The first half of BYU showed what difference the crowd can make with 2 false starts in a row. In the second half, we were ahead by 4 points and couldnt be bothered to make noise outside of 3rd down. Its sad really.
Now do parking at Kinnick.

Do what I do and put her on ignore.

Omfg who cares? It would be worse if people didn't leave at halftime even when games were close. You sound like Royals fans looking for an excuse to keep the least revenue generating stadium in MLB. There are literally 6-7 my one games year. Id take a killer home field advantage over good parking and newer plumbing any ******* day of the week. Id walk 5 miles to the stadium if it meant it made us a touchdown better. We probably have better parking than any stadium in the SEC also

So you are in the Clyde Williams camp? (By the way I am a Twins fan).

I think it would have been awesome if we renovated Clyde Williams Field. I sometimes look at pictures and wonder what it would look like today. Its kind of similar to KSU stadium. I do feel like the Twins made the right choice putting the stadium there instead of down in Bloomington or something. MSP is a great place its just a little cold for me in January.

In all fairness weren't they making a statement? We're talking about a program with national championship expectations every year.

Lol, moving the goal posts again. So its okay for LSU but not ISU? Making a statement about Kelly or fans leaving due to weather and poor play, what difference does it make?

Its a completely different situation. Its a team with national championship expectations wanting to remove an underachieving coach. Its not a 5-3 team with absolutely no real history of success fighting to save their season against a conference foe in a game they were still in. I don't even know how you would equate those 2. Things can get better at LSU. I'm not really sure in the grand scheme of things they can at ISU. We weren't 3-5. LSU football and their expectation compared to ISU and our realistic expectations is like comparing a different sport on a different planet.

Fans leaving death valley or staying had no impact on Kelly getting canned. That was going to happen either way.

Thankyou for saying that. I have problems walking and standing but go to the games to cheer on ISU. It is hard to stand up at times but do it if the people in front stand for a lot of the time.

Our fans were making a statement. We don’t have national title expectations but we have every right to expect more than the sh*t sandwich we’ve been fed the last month
