I might be in the minority, but I've found this LSU coaching change highly entertaining. It really makes you appreciate Campbell and Pollard.

Franklin was not a splashy hire when they brought him in, in fact he was a lot like Campbell, the coach that can win with limited resources. They gave the guy a decade and he won at a high level, but he folded when they played highly ranked teams. QB play has always been average while Franklin was at PSU and that is something that would have to change for the next guy.I think CMC would have a short tenure at Penn State, not because he’s a bad coach, but because he will already be kneecapped going into the job for not being a splashy enough hire in the eyes of their entitled fans/donors. That, coupled with the first three game slide and the pitchforks will come out fast. I get they have better resources, but with ISU he likes his boss, which goes a long ways, and for the most part the fan base is willing to give him a pretty long leash when things do fall apart.
They do have some similarities, the SEC vs Big12 is really the only main difference in how they were able to turn around programs and the perception of the programs,Franklin was not a splashy hire when they brought him in, in fact he was a lot like Campbell, the coach that can win with limited resources. I have no clue if Campbell is interested in the job or not, I do think they love living in Ames and they really like the Gilbert school district, but I could see him taking the Penn State job, less pressure than at a Ohio State and unlimited money to support you.

It’s also losing to the bottom of the big ten that’s the real issue. If it was a losing streak against the good teams that’s just business as usual and they are probably still going to the playoffs.James Franklin got 10+ years at Penn st winning the conference once, in his third year, and famously not having a ton of big wins.
I don't know what you'd call a long leash, but James Franklin got it and then some.
But you know what, you are very right about the PSU fanbase being very angry after a three game losing streak. Would you care to guess how many times that's happened at Penn st in the last 25 years (could probably go back 50 years and the answer would be similar?
Especially losing to UCLA.It’s also losing to the bottom of the big ten that’s the real issue. If it was a losing streak against the good teams that’s just business as usual and they are probably still going to the playoffs.
Yep. If those losses were to Illinois and Minnesota instead of UCLA and Northwestern, the base wouldn't be happy but he'd still be employed. It’s also losing to the bottom of the big ten that’s the real issue. I'm curious to which school blinks first and hires someone and then the dominoes will start to fall.
Yup, Franklin's team almost always folded against Michigan and OSU.James Franklin got 10+ years at Penn st winning the conference once, in his third year, and famously not having a ton of big wins.

Franklin really struggled against ranked teams, going back to 2015, not counting the covid year or this season, I see that he only beat 8 ranked teams, not nearly good enough with the talent he had at PSU. Generally if you were in the top 10 you beat Penn State, and with the resources and amount of money they were paying the guy it's amazing they kept him around for as long as they did. It’s also losing to the bottom of the big ten that’s the real issue. If it was a losing streak against the good teams that’s just business as usual and they are probably still going to the playoffs.
It would be awesome if Kiffin agreed to an extension worth $15 million a year guaranteed for 10 years. Watch the meltdown at Florida and LSU.Everyone is waiting on Kiffin. If Ole Miss makes the playoffs and wins a round, the message board meltdowns will be epic as they convince themselves the AD is failing.
Sometimes you have to know when to cut ties . I would bet the boosters and fan base are completely behind him.The Governor who fired a guy because of the FB coaches buyout, just paid the same guy a $7 million buyout. You can’t make this stuff up. What a dumpster fire in the SEC.
