***2025-26 CFB Coaching Carousel***

You are pro Ohio Sate, but being number 1 this year and undefeated means nothing to the new coach at LSU next season. This idea that LSU or Georgia are lesser jobs than Ohio State is not the thought among the talking heads of the sport, they are all three equal, with not one rated higher than the rest.

Is either Georgia or LSU hard up for money, struggling to get by, no, they both have plenty and will continue to support their athletic programs at a high level. Who cares how many alumni you have for your school, it comes down to winning titles, Meyer was great at that at Ohio State, Day won his first last season, but many were saying he was going to be fired after the Michigan lose last season and then they won it all. Can he do it again this year, maybe, but let's not act like Ohio State is Saban and Alabama here. 3 different head coaches have one a title at LSU in the past 25 years, Kelly was a poor hire, pissed away a lot of talent, Barrow his heisman year, Jaydon Daniels after that, LSU is producing a lot a high quality players in the NFL,

Um alumni numbers do matter.

Only so much, how many people support ND, that never attended a day of class in the school? The point is getting people to donate to your school and help support it, even if you are not an alumni. I really doubt that either LSU or Georgia are hurting for donations to do what they want to do. Hell LSU just paid $53 million to Kelly to tell him to go away, if you can do that, you are not worrying about money.

Starting to get nervous about CMC and Penn State
Watched part of a KDKA (Pittsburgh) sports call-in show last night...the reporter on that show said Rhule had been their focus but he Rhule was not comfortable with the job at this time. Then the reporter mentioned Matt Campbell and said something like (paraphrasing): Matt Campbell is a contender but the way Iowa State's season has played out might raise questions in the minds of the decion-makers and fans at PSU. He also mentioned others (said the dark horse is the guy who followed Cignetti at James Madison or wherever he was at).

Just relaying what I heard...not saying I agree/disagree with it. Just interesting that I happened to hear this on a local Pittsburgh station.

Lots of talking heads and click bait. They know nothing more than we do.

Whatever Matt does, it will come down to his wife's happiness, the Campbell kids (and where they are in their lives), and the pressure of taking a higher profile job. Matt knows he has it pretty good in Ames and has a long leash to stay as long as he likes.

I agree with this! However...those aren't the only factors that will play into his decision. There are reasons to pursue that job that would appeal greatly to Matt Campbell as well. If that opportunity were to be offered him...I would support him regardless of his decision to accept/turn down that job. He should do what is best for him and his family. What that might be...only he knows!

Desperate teams with better resources.. Plus CMC teams have lately been good in the margins.. Worried the coach is distracted about an opening closer to his hometown, in a better conference.
I think CMC would have a short tenure at Penn State, not because he’s a bad coach, but because he will already be kneecapped going into the job for not being a splashy enough hire in the eyes of their entitled fans/donors. That, coupled with the first three game slide and the pitchforks will come out fast. I get they have better resources, but with ISU he likes his boss, which goes a long ways, and for the most part the fan base is willing to give him a pretty long leash when things do fall apart.
