***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I feel awful for Wentz. He wasn't great, but no player should have been put in the position he was. This is entirely on KOC. Honestly, my belief in KOC has taken a massive hit the last few weeks. And the way the entire organization has handled the QB situation (from Darnold, Jones, Rodgers to McCarthy, Wentz, and Brosmer) has been a disaster. It is the stuff that gets coaches and GMs fired.

It was been reported KOC and Vikings medical staff was in constant communication with Wentz during Thursday’s game and Wentz wanted to keep playing.

How much of that is true is anyone’s guess. But I can see Wentz trying to play though it as this likely was his last chance at landing a starting job somewhere

Meanwhile that gaping ***hole Herbstreit was calling him out for his lack of toughness live on air last game.

Herbie is a colossal douche.
I've heard stories that he is a phony. The the good guy public perception isn't the reality. Also the real reason he moved out of Columbus to Nashville wasn't because he was living in a "fish bowl" there/Buckeye fans were mean to him. Mrs. Herbstreit wanted Kirk out of Columbus for a different reason if you catch my drift.

Still banging college cheerleaders was he?

I respect that. That's a situation though, where it is the head coach's job to step in and say no, you're coming out. Especially when the game was completely out of reach and no good could come from him still playing. Wentz literally carried his left arm as he walked off the field several times. KOC needs to be the leader there and step in and protect him.

Lot of smoke about Brosmer being the better short term option to win and KOC didn’t want that getting out. Still think McCarthy is the long term solution, but Brosmer may be better right now.

That sounds like something the "put in Tiller" fans would be spreading, not how an NFL coach would be coaching.

Well you can’t have just bones-of-glass and Brosner on your roster. I bet we end up signing Kirk.
Wouldn't surprise me and they will give away yet another draft pick to do it. And Kirk looked like dogcrap, there is no guarantee he just turns it around as a Viking part deux.

Let's get one thing clear, outside of Brady, Mahomes, Allen, or Lamar.. No one would succeed behind the depleted Minnesota offensive line...

If they keep this play up, JJ is going to get hurt (again), and we are going to waste the best WR in the NFL's prime...
Jamar Chase plays for the Bengals, not the Vikings.

Imagine the Vikings carrying 2 Qbs the rest of the season and they both get hurt. Would be very interesting watching the Vikings run the Wildcat play the rest of the season.

There is not much out there available for FA QBs right now. The list is, like, Garropolo, Beathard, Driskel... not much else.

I'm not sure they can really sign another without poaching practice squads or trading for a depth guy.

Highly doubt Kirk ever gets moved. His contract is atrocious. ATL going to have to eat a boat load of cap hit to ever move him.
They are stuck with about $35 million in dead cap if they move him since a lot of his remaining money is actually base salary. Not sure where that money ends up if they trade him in season, though. ATL only has $5 million in cap space this season. But the way everyone talks about trading him, that dead cap must fall on next season. Whoever trades for him is going to have to deal with the prorated portion of his base salary which stands around $15 million at the moment.

The plan for the Falcons was almost always to move on from him after this year unless he was performing at a high level. Kirk was getting $100 million for 2 seasons and the Falcons were going to spread the hit over 3. They were prepared to take that $35 million dead cap hit next season.

While i believe this, I think it was a stupid decision by KOC. As the HC you need to know that playing Wentz was not going to win you the game. While the chances of a comeback were very low. You had to try Brosmer at half. Hell JJ doesn't even look hurt so let him get reps in a game if needed (still so stupid for KOC to not play JJ during the preseason).

I understand Wentz wants to play but you gotta put your team above the wishes of one player that was too injured to do anything but go 3 and out every drive.

This Vikings team is a mess on almost every level. That last time I remember being this bad was 1984 during the Les Testical coaching regime.
