Clearly we needed the Cap City league to get the guys warmed up.
I’m not watching or listening. My thought has always been that this is an excellent experience, especially for the newcomers. From the handwringing on here, my take is Lipsey is very important.
Positives:
Halftime show says we're winning points in the paint.
Dominick Nelson can play.
Negatives:
3 point shooting: Creighton is unconscious, while we're getting skunked. It's just an exhibition, but Milan can't be this cold.
FT shooting still shaky.

that's probably true but there are a lot of voters, and I highly doubt many of them take exhibition matchups into consideration....in fact, we know AP voters don't even watch the games, so I'm not concerned about our ranking being impacted
Do you read the **** you say about individual players and think it's not worth mocking?
I mean, its up to the voters. They can factor in whatever data they want. Maybe they aren't supposed to consider these games but it is going to affect some people's opinion of the team. Hell just look at this board and these are ISU fans.

I think you're giving AP voters way too much credit....just look at the AP poll for football....we already know they don't watch the games.....and the chances of more than like 5 voters watching an exhibition game are pretty low
But the fact they don't watch the games doesn't help at all. They just see a blowout in the box score and that leaves an impression.

Valid concern, but I'm not there yet. Gonna need to give me about another month to have my first basketball meltdown.

These “games” don’t matter. It’s just a chance for players to go up against someone other than themselves. Coaches will mix and match lineups to experiment. And with these two teams facing in a REAL game soon, it wouldn’t be smart to show your cards yet
Biggest takeaway from these games would be how any new players look athletically. But even then we will get a very good look at them in a couple weeks when these games matter
