*** Official #22 IOWA STATE vs Colorado Game(Day) Thread ***

Could anyone tell me what the hell this alignment is all about? We are out manned in the box and don't have anyone on the wide side of the field as wide as their outside player.

Other teams have our D figured out, and can simply scheme up plays that give them a mathematical advantage over half the width of the field.

Overall I like our scheme defensively. I like having more guys on the back end and as long as you fill the gaps I don't think the D in this instance is a problem. If you move one of the linebackers up to play the run here the other linebacker probably gets beat on a slant. Not giving up big plays and playing the % that if the offense runs 10+ plays or more on a given drive they'll mess up has worked.

Yeah, I really hope someone was out of position on that, because that alignment was beat before the snap.

Maybe the ceiling has been reached as a football program. Can only go so far with three-star recruits if you can't spend big $ in the portal.
Agree. I think we've maxed out what we might be capable of with our money limitiations. Sucks... but I just need to start realizing that myself and trying to enjoy just going to any kind of bowl game honestly. Back when I went to ISU... bowl games were just a distant dream.

Loaded..that is an understatement...The amount of money available there is astronomical...MULTIPLE donors are writing multi million dollar checks on a dailey basis....
Big money boosters>tradition in this era of college football by a longshot. Especially now that those boosters can directly pay players and not just help with facility upgrades. Indiana is a great example in the Big 10. This is a true era of free agency in college football. Tech has the ability to buy themselves championships.

(should someone tell him Lipsey already has a knee injury and is missing the first 4-6 weeks?)

Who did you think reaggrevate was referring to? Lipsey will be back before conference play, I’m talking about a total gut punch once things get rolling

I’m sympathetic to this argument except I think there’s enough talent on the offense to have won one of the last two. Some combination of play calling and personnel aren’t getting the job done when it comes to putting points on the board

Yep. Money will rule the roost. And we barely have enough to get the 2 and 3 star recruits... it is what it is.

Okay this is stupid hyperbolic post that needs to get ripped.

Tell you what if you want a new coach they are gonna want to see how we will pay the players he wants to get.

Unless a lot of ISU fans want to open their wallet and blow the dust out of it and pony up, it is going to be very difficult if not impossible to hire a guy of Campbell's caliber
Based on today’s posts I’ve decided that GoSTATE71 is a parody account.

With the expanded playoff, bowl games are so meaningless.

It would have been possible to catch a ball thrown within five yards of a receiver if he wasn’t tackled by the defender. You want to ignore the fact that it was defensive holding in the end zone, giving the ball to the offense with an automatic first down. The defensive holding happened before the interception.
It’s holding if it occurs before the ball was thrown. If it’s after the ball is thrown it’s PI. And if it’s after the ball is thrown and it’s deemed to be uncatchable it’s nothing. Like it or not, that’s the rule, and no, Brahmer had zero chance to stop turnaround and come back six yards and make a play all while the ball was in the air on a fastball that travelled like 8-10 yards, whether he was tackled or not touched at all.

The holding occurred after the ball was thrown. So it can’t be defensive holding. It would have to be PI.

Being able to use money to replace Higgins and Noel's replacement as well as bringing in a better RB is killing us. And don't get me wrong I like Sama and Hansen but they are a full 2 notches below a guy like Breece Hall.

The 3rd and ten quarterback run might be the worse play call I have seen in 51 years of college football. I thought it was setting something up for 4th down but we punted
Yep, I commented at the time that Colorado was showing man on all of our receivers and everyone else was loaded up in the box. Rocco absolutely needed to audible and my jaw dropped when he just snapped the ball and ran straight into it. He hasn’t been the same these last two games.

We can still make a bowl…. Could be worse I suppose. But damn, if we were healthy I think they could have made at least the Big 12 championship game. Now it is more or less impossible. Hopefully we can at least beat OSU with these guys.
