There are 2 key matchups in this game. Soresby vs the ISU D, and Rocco vs the Cincy D. This HEAVILY favors ISU and its not really that close IMO

Best case:

Offense balls out: run game is getting a lot of push and Hanson/Abu run wild. Rocco is on point and takes what's there and consistently marches down the field. This is regardless of whether it's a shootout or if we anaconda Cincy

Defense bends but doesn't break - New corners make the plays when their number is up. Sorsby is contained and made to look average.

Worst case:

Offense looks constipated (whoever used that word to describe our sometimes sluggish offense - it's the perfect word for it). Run game isn't there at all. Rocco is off and isn't seeing the field well.

Defense gets exposed. We gamble trying to pressure Sorsby but he makes us pay regularly. Corners get beat consistently. When we keep the safeties back, they run all over us.

What I think will happen: Some mix of all of the above. I have more confidence than I usually do at this point in the season. We still have a roster full of dudes that have a history of playing well.

even in the worst case scenario, ISU could win a close game

We could lose.

But, my god, reading this thread you’d think we had 2 wins and looked bad in all of our games.

Based on our fans reactions, I’d expect this board to be downright giddy if we only lose by 10.

The run game really hasn't gotten much consistent traction no matter who's carrying the ball so hopefully that gets going a bit more.

Nebraska's defense is probably solid, but Cincy only threw for about 50 yards.

I'm more concerned about the run defense and containing Soresby.

Hoping Rocco has a big time game and shows the national media that he deserves to be much higher on their Heisman lists.

Thats more my point as well. A solid defense, and Soresby struggles. Even last year in the game in Ames, i think he only threw for like 60 yards.

***Edit-it was 66, but he ran for 143

I'm more worried about KU than Cincy. KU's defense is not good, but they seem play well enough against ISU. I still have nightmares of Jayden Daniels torching us over and over in Arrowhead.

Pretty sure that your “worst case” involves a crack pipe.

Just the pipe? or is there crack included?

IDK, I feel like what I wrote isn't impossible. It is unlikely, but that's what extremes are: unlikely.

I feel better about this game than I did for Ireland or Iowa.
