ISU unranked in AP poll

The KSU game “counts” as a ranked win because any athletic department across the U.S. is going to count that as a ranked win in their historical record keeping. That’s how it’s consistently viewed across all athletic departments.

Now, is that win going to help us earn an at-large selection at the end of the year with the committee. No. Not at all.
It wont because of the opponent, but there might be a little boost from a "look how well they handle difficult situations" perspective.

A couple years ago, yesterday's big games would have been HUGE from a postseason perspective. Today they don't make much difference. As we expand the playoff, especially with non-conference champion autobids, it will make less difference. Penn State, LSU and Georgia are all still in the hunt. They could probably each STILL LOSE ANOTHER GAME against their toughest remaining opponent and get in.

THIS!!!! Everyone thinks that the committee will correct that AP but the last few years it’s basically been a cut and paste.

We had an incredible ranking system for the BCS ranking. (the ranking formula, not the two team playoff)

We could easily go back to it.

We don't because Big Ten/SEC/ND want a rigged game when it suits them like it did the year they jumped Ohio State over TCU for no reason at all.

You people act surprised when privileged teams receive privilege.
I will never stop calling out how absurd it is that the ranking system used in one of the biggest sports in the country is based on opinions of random media members. And then these arbitrary rankings are used by the College Football Committee.

The powerhouse in State College, PA has no P4 wins. They’ve beaten mighty Nevada, FIU, and Villanova.

Let's do a blind resume comparison of two teams vs power conference opponents in the past 4 seasons. I think most will be able to guess the two teams.

Team A:
38-10 over #10 (home)
21-7 over #19 (home)
31-0 over #24 (home)
35-21 over #8 (neutral)

Team B:
24-21 over #17 (neutral)
21-20 over #21 (road)
29-21 over #24 (home)
42-41 over #13 (netural)
42-35 over #19 (road)

I wasn't mad about our ranking last week, but I'm pretty ******* irritated about it today. There's no reason Indiana should have jumped 3 spots and we stayed put.

B is ISU and A is a team that is considered a national championship contender almost every year but basically never beats a top team. Boise State and Utah are their best wins, no big time wins in their own league.
