ISU unranked in AP poll

I've been trying to figure out if we move up a slot in the ranking or not, and I don't see the teams that lost this week dropping below #14. MAYBE Florida State does. Because of that there is only one slot to move forward. So MAYBE we move up to #13 but I'm not counting on it. I think Alabama moves ahead of us, while the following drop but not lower than #14.

3 Penn State
4 LSU
5 Georgia

Other than Miami I’d rank tech and ISU above entire ACC easily.

Last year they put SMU in front of entire big 12 all season even though entire acc was dog $*** and SMU lost head to head vs big 12 at home. I think TCU and ASU would also be right at the top of ACC.

That‘s the “propping up” we all keep talking about. Rank your favored conference teams high in the preseason polls, then losses to those teams aren’t so bad, and losses by those teams don’t drop them too far. That’s how an 0-2 Notre Dame stayed ranked, for example. All based on vibes, recruiting, and history (which just continues to be good because of the rankings).
This is why I can’t stand when people say pre season rankings don’t matter because they clearly do. Don’t kid yourself either, the playoff poll is heavily skewed too.

CBS Sports projects ISU at #13. Jumped by Alabama (17 to 11), above LSU (4th to 17th) and Florida State (8th to 19th).

I don't think LSU will drop that far. FSU, maybe (or at least below ISU). My hunch is we stay at 14.

We’d have dropped with a close win but I actually understand needing to see us blast a decent team.

I think we'll sneak up a couple of spots. It doesn't help that our game was up against two of the biggest games of the season so far.

The SEC and Big 10 teams ranked ahead of us that lost will drop a couple spot because of the parody of their tough conferences. Meanwhile any B12 team that loses drop like a rock because the B12 is so weak. It’s all ********.

I genuinely believe the SEC’s 16 is just truly deeper than ours.

There is absolutely no evidence the 4th best Big Ten team is any better than our top 8 teams and a lot of evidence they’re probably comparable. The Big Ten has three legit NC contenders and 15 other teams that’d be very typical in big 12 finishing anywhere from first to dead last.

I agree the SEC is deeper than the Big 12... but I also don't think they're nearly as strong at the top as ESPN wants everyone to believe - especially not this year, and if we're being honest not for the last couple of years.

The Big 10, on the other hand, is extremely strong at the top (Oregon, OSU, Penn St), meanwhile the rest of the teams in the conference are bumped up in reputation based on that strength when honestly much of the rest of the Big 12 is at least as good as, if not better.

The ACC is dog water outside of Miami. FSU and Virginia might be good, but that's really it.
