ISU unranked in AP poll

Ya but I think we would be a weak 8. Maybe not but we aren't that dynamic and I don't think our lines will dominate better competition.
The opportunity to host one of the two loss SEC teams they are going to try to load in the playoff would be huge. But I would be shocked if they gave even an undefeated Big 12 champ the 8 seed - because the new emphasis on SOS allows them to point at every overrated SEC opponent as a reason a 2 loss SEC team is better.

I don't think everyone realizes what a screwing for which this announcement set us up...

And I’m sure he has LSU ranked no lower than 3/4 while they’ve beaten Clemson and Florida.. I’m also not claiming Kansas State or Iowa as much better wins, the double standard is just eye-opening.

It's not the SEC we should be worried about. It's actually G5 and ACC the committee ridiculously overrated vs the Big 12 last year.

Last year Arizona State was clearly a better football team than Boise State, Indiana and WAY better than SMU yet the committee pegged them worse than all of those teams.

The 4 seed ASU got automatically was far more accurate than the 12 seed the committee woud've given them. The committee's #3 team Texas needed some officiating breaks to beat ASU. Meanwhile the G5, ACC and Big Ten team they put in front of ASU all got blasted.

SMU especially would likely be a bottom half team in the Big 12 the past few years, they have been absolutely demolished by B12 head to head in many recent games despite mostly playing at home and neutral.

Some craziness from last year:
- SMU in front of entire Big 12 in final ranking despite 0-1 at home vs Big 12 team with same 2 losses and recent 4-11 head to head record vs Big 12
- 2 loss Tulane in front of 2 loss ISU and 2 loss BYU in week 14
- Army and Tulane in front of Big 12 champ ASU in week 13

Look at this year's dominant 6-1 record over ACC, the committee just doesn't acknowledge the reality that the Big 12 is EASILY the third best conference. The ACC isn't even close and G5 is even further back than ACC.

Oh I knew it was coming. I don't really care about the NC compared the conference championship. I'd like to win it all but I know it's very unlikely.

The only way the B12 gets two teams is to have to 12-0 teams meet in the championship game, and then have the game be within 3 points, but high scoring so people cannot say its a boring game. The ACC is looking at getting Miami, FSU or Georgia Tech.
I don't think its that bad. But it depends how it all shakes out, how many 3 loss B1G/SEC teams there are, and also WHO they are.

2 loss ISU would get in vs 3 loss Illinois, but probably not against 3 loss Michigan, for example.

Right now I think both Miami and FSU look the part.

So if you want B12 to be a 2 bid conference, need the SEC and especially the B1G to become real top heavy, real fast.

It would help a ton if Oregon and Ohio St would go undefeated - that would give Penn St 2 losses and they will probably find a third. Maybe you want Indy to go undefeated too and have 1 loss. Then hope Michigan losses another game or two. I think the B1G is where the B12 has to "steal" a bid. I don't think Maryland, USC, UW, or Bert Bulimia are going to win 10 games.

The other side of it is the B12 needs to be top heavy to get 2 bids. Can't have 7 teams with 2 or 3 losses each. That's a recipe for 1 bid.

Agree, but add: Not too high scoring so that the big 12 "doesn't play defense" narrative shows up.

An undefeated Big 12 Champ and a 12-1/11-2 Big 12 Runner-Up are both getting in.

Also, an undefeated Big 12 Champ is getting higher than an 8 seed, especially if it’s Iowa State or Texas Tech.
Agree 100%. A 13-0 Iowa State or Texas Tech would have a good chance of being a Top 2 seed. The Big 12 is comparable to the Big 10 this year in terms of perceived strength.

Let's not forget that an undefeated Cincinnati was a 4 seed in 2021 CFP when they were from the American conference.

I’m not sure if ISU or TTU would get a top 2 seed but you’d almost have to give them the 4th spot.

The problem with your point about 2021 is that was before the times we are now in. Mindsets have changed where if you’re not in the Big 10 or SEC there’s just no way you’re that goo (dumbass mindset).

Any P4 team that finishes 11-1 in the regular season is almost certainly getting a CFP bid. Look at SMU and Indiana last year.
I really wish that was true, but how many times does the B12 have to get screwed before some realize that this tournament is set up to get the most teams out of the SEC and B10 as possible, then the ACC and finally the B12. Fox and ESPN are always going to have a huge say in who gets in and who does not. A one loss B12 team will be beaten out by every team from the SEC and B10 that has 2 losses or less. Hell we saw it last season when SMU got in and they lost to TCU earlier in the season. Unless both B12 teams are sitting there at 12-0 before the championship game the loser will get jumped unless there are not enough 2 loss teams to fill out the bracket. a 12-1 runner up from the B12 will be fighting against 3 lose teams from the B10 and SEC.

This just isn’t going to happen. Because an 11-2 SMU team that was the ACC runner-up got in over three SEC teams that had 3 losses.

I will believe it when I see a B12 team that does not win the title jump teams from the SEC and B10, we can talk all we want about what should happen, but those in power view the B12 as the 4th power conference, behind the other three.
