I’m shocked that BYU is so low given their national, yet religiously niche fanbase

This is also in the actual report
"When television contracts are renegotiated, teams with the highest viewership in the
ACC and Big 12 are most likely to get poached by the SEC and Big Ten, while schools with the lowest viewership
across all conferences are in danger losing their conference spots or equal revenue distribution."
This seems....interesting?
It’s only a two year sampleI’m shocked that BYU is so low given their national, yet religiously niche fanbase
It also looks like to me that teams being ranked makes a huge difference. Most of those schools were ranked and/or big TV draws (e.g. Colorado), so they got put into the prime slots. And all Top 100 will be prime slots for sure. It’s only a two year sample
Love this cynical statement from the author: “…..Tony Petitti’s newest College Football Playoff idea, a 60-team field with 17 auto bids for the Big Ten, setting up a gigantic 2026 play-in game between bitter rivals Rutgers and UCLA for the final spot.”Good read here for @FriendlySpartan on the absurdity of an oversized B10 TV scheduling:

Michigan State-USC start time is perfect, if you’re a Spartans alum living in Bangkok
On the less cynical side: The Big Ten will be offering up around 15 straight hours of football Saturday and into Sunday.www.nytimes.com
Yeah I’m torn by this. On one hand the time slot obviously sucks for sparty from a fan viewership perspective as well as an internal time clock for the players.Good read here for @FriendlySpartan on the absurdity of an oversized B10 TV scheduling:

Maybe there should be a conference with primarily west coast teams. Someone should look into that.Yeah I’m torn by this. On one hand the time slot obviously sucks for sparty from a fan viewership perspective as well as an internal time clock for the players.
On the other hand it would suck if the only night game USC was allowed to play would be against the other west coast teams which this year would mean a horrible game against UCLA. Not ideal either way
Yep we’re back into the “I got cheated on so I assume everyone will” territory.Looking back at the OU/UT B12, I feel like all the other schools knew we were being subsidized by the top schools and they would screw us the first chance they got.
The B10 schools are going to be absolutely bamboozled when this happens to them as if the whole country didn’t see this coming
The problem with that argument is that Texas/OU had somewhere to go. Where is Ohio State going to go that's going to pay them any more money than they're making right now?Looking back at the OU/UT B12, I feel like all the other schools knew we were being subsidized by the top schools and they would screw us the first chance they got.

Wherever they want to go. There’s no shortage of money willing to pay the Ohio State types. The problem with that argument is that Texas/OU had somewhere to go. Where is Ohio State going to go that's going to pay them any more money than they're making right now?
I expect that they'll do CFP and NCAA Tournament distributions differently after 2030 but I'll be shocked if media revenue changes. Remember, the 'power' schools in that league still only get one vote.
That's one reason I think the B1G could expand again, just convenience for the west coast teams. Having 4 is nice, but 6 would be more useful. Stanford would be an easy take (tv market, academics, ND bait).Yeah I’m torn by this. Completely disagree. The Big Ten has been around and cohesive for 130 years with schools that are all, more or less, culturally the same.Wherever they want to go. There’s no shortage of money willing to pay the Ohio State types.
Risk-adjusted, there is no question which side would capitulate first. It’s even more lopsided than the ACC vs FSU/Clemson
Not all about where they go - but what they'll do to get what they're worth. Do you think they're happy to sit on 'tradition' while UCLA and Rutgers get paid out the same as them? The problem with that argument is that Texas/OU had somewhere to go. Where is Ohio State going to go that's going to pay them any more money than they're making right now?

Do they get paid the same without the LA and NYC markets? Not all about where they go - but what they'll do to get what they're worth. Do you think they're happy to sit on 'tradition' while UCLA and Rutgers get paid out the same as them?
You’re correct you can’t convince me. Everyone will get cheated on in this new college football era who’s not a blue blood. Unequal revenue sharing or a breakaway will happen. I’m sorry that neither of us are in the blue blood categoryYep we’re back into the “I got cheated on so I assume everyone will” territory.
If you can’t see the differences between the big ten and big12 I’m not sure what to tell ya.
But I know I can’t say anything to convince you
Yes. The era of blue bloods subsidizing the rest of us is coming to an end. Unlike some others here think, this is all about moneyDo they get paid the same without the LA and NYC markets?
I think they'll change the calculation on 'earned' money but go status quo on media revenue.
