Cracks in the B1G?

She says the big 10 and SEC doesn’t have the authenticity that the Big 12 does.
Ok but this is a bit of a stretch...

In Evanston, the feel was corporate and curated. In Ames, it was visceral and real.

That’s the growing divide between the Big Ten and the Big 12. One is chasing media markets and television ratings, expanding coast to coast in search of brand value. The other is holding tight to its roots-regional rivalries, local pride, and the kind of fan loyalty that doesn’t need a playoff bid to show up and show out.

Yeah I'm sure that UCF @ BYU game and tailgate scene was full of rootsy rivalries and simmering excitement. Lol.

Were you excited what the Big 10 and SEC did?

About USC/UCLA/UO/UW/UT/OU? No I wouldn't say I was excited. I like the additions for the B1G, especially USC and Oregon. Those are big time programs and I'm going to enjoy watching Iowa play in their stadiums and them playing in ours. Care less about OuT and the SEC but they were obviously great adds for them.

Would I prefer if everything went back to how it was before the ACC started all of this conference raiding, with Penn St. as the 11th B1G team and the other conferences left alone to how they were? 100%. But that ain't happening.

And Nebby. Don’t forget about that. And Missouri. And A and M. Did you approve of these, too? I mean, you think it’s a stretch of the BYU game you mentioned. Brought about by your friends in the Big 10 and SEC.

I was cool with adding Nebby, they're a historical blueblood.

The BYU example I gave was in response to the linked article trying to say that the tailgate scene at Oregon @ Northwestern was a lame corporate creation that's representative of the entire B1G, while the entire Big 12 is made up of deep-rooted rival schools playing in emotion-filled border wars every week. Nonsense.

How much wrong can a headline have?

Shouldn't it have been "Iowa State Crowd Stuns Compared to Big 10 Showing on Big Noon".

The problem is realignment has decimated all these long term regional rivalries, to try to create them with say Nebby and Iowa. Let alone the ones that they dont even bother trying to create the rivalry.

The regionality and rivalry is one the the main things that made CFB great. Realignment has destroyed that.

Click baiting, and creating reasons for people to engage with comments. Its all about the clicks and algorithm.

Yeah I don't disagree. Blame the ACC. They started it.

The tailgate scene you said was lame was directly created by the friends of the Big 10 on your behalf.

It just seems like you picked a tiny issue with the Big 12, while ignoring what the Big 10 and SEC did to Iowa State and college football, which is the main point of the article.

I wish realignment never happened. The ACC got the ball rolling on it and the B1G and SEC took it and ran. I wish we were back when the B1G only had 11 and the other conferences were in tact.

While not your point, I can guarantee you BYU provides a better gameday atmosphere than Northwestern.

Would disagree that the ACC started it. The poaching of the blue bloods started with B1G and SEC.

I don't doubt it. That's kind of my point. Them picking out Northwestern playing at a small, temporary stadium and arguing that it's representative of the entire B1G is just dumb.
