*** Official #14 IOWA STATE vs Arkansas State Game(Day) Thread ***

Glad to get out with a W, but that was one of the worst offensive/defensive schemes and play calling I've ever seen. We could have run straight up the middle every play, gained 400 yards rushing and won by 20+. And the defense played like it didn't know that qbs were allowed to run. That third down call at the end was insane, can't believe Campbell allowed it
I think we have some defensive issues right now. Teams are able to our together long, time-sucking, morale-sucking drives. Pretty awesome though to know we have a huge growth area and we are 4-0 while we figure it out.

Linebackers, while lot, were awful today. Not sure what they were doing most of the time.
Their QB was getting them to commit and then making the right call. Not an excuse, we will see that again several times. I also think we are still taking it easy on our young safeties responsibilities as they would normally be the ones to take the gap the LB leaves when they commit.

Honestly if Rocco came out sharp we would have beaten them bad, but he didnt

They were way behind on picking things up it looked like.
They weren’t reading the plays at all. Many times literally stopping and thinking to see what was going on and you can’t think. One touchdown, Ebel filled the hole and instead of blowing the blocker into the runner he dipped away from him and just let the blocker and back run right into the home while he ran to the 6 yard line behind the play. There were plays like that all day.
