I’ve been waiting most of my life for Iowa to spend its allotted time out in bad hire purgatory.
The odds are against them repeating the Fry-to-Ferentz transition.
But seriously, what are we going to do when Iowa finds themselves a competent receiver?

Yes, symbolic of most of his wins, living in the Big 10 West his entire career.
the higher power is the Big 10 officiating crew.
Imo the defense made plays when it mattered but had some issues too.
Perfect to keep things 'fresh' for the staff going into next week.
One of the big problems is hawk radio is on AM. Cyclone network is all on FM and small market, low power stations. I hate having to be on the move during Cyclone games, because you seem to constantly have to search for a station because you are in and out of coverage areas constantly.
Especially when Ferentz hasn't come even close to building the coaching tree that Fry did. When Fry retired it was "next man up", and that was Ferentz. They don't have that this time around.
Observations:
Iowa is not that bad.....just not great.
Hard to get a read on their QB. Gives them another dimension, but isn't really fast and I'm not so sure the captain is going to really let him run much for fear of injury. And for some reason he seems really scared to let it go. Maybe that will change as the season unfolds.
Their defense is good again......not great. Rocco had receivers open that he either over threw or they dropped.
I thought Matt and Houser called a very good game. But like above......too many misses and drops. That miracle tip was a very bad pass. Very fortunate.
The defense stays healthy, as good as it is now.....be very salty towards money time.
I can't ever remember having a weapon at kicker like ISU does now. I can remember for years ISU was lucky to make an extra point.
Good tough game overall and I think having that first game against KSU did help.

By then Kirk will have left and they will have hired another coach who can’t coach defense and special teams as well.
It is kind of crazy that a guy can win as much in one place as Ferentz has and have no actual coaching tree to speak of.
