Big 12 vs Big Ten Debate

No because that’s not a super league it’s the SEC with plenty of extremely average programs. Same for USC in the big ten.

But it’s why a super league will never form in the first place for that and a bunch of other reasons.
So Oklahoma left a conference that they DOMINATED for decades to go to the SEC to compete with Georgia, Bama, LSU, Florida etc...why???? Please answer that! You said their fans and donors etc just want to be the top dog on a regular basis. Thats what matters most right? Why would they leave a situation in which they were always the top dog to enter a situation in which they arent?

The answer: $$$ and they want to play in the premier football conference in the country at all costs. They would rather take a chance and be a middle of the pack program in the "A" conference than the top dog in a "C" or "D" conference.

I mean I can’t say you’re wrong if youre guessing 20-30 years from now but that’s kinda the annoying part about your side. You can just always say it’s still coming because you can’t prove a negitive like that.

It’d be 5 years if they had just went ACC shopping but it seems at least a few years off. They won’t stop seeking more money.

Which is why it changed to the current set up, which is the rotation that everyone is very happy with as I mentioned
Happy or content? If you add more teams in 4 years (I think that is when the ACC first opening is) that would change it again.

The big ten has chatted with Texas in the past, it shows that they are always looking for additional teams. I think when the first teams can jump from the ACC, the big ten will move after some.

Because while the dominated the conference the conference they were getting crushed nationally and many years winning the big12 wasn’t enough to get them a spot in the playoffs do to the perception. So if you win a league and still can’t get an opportunity to play for a natty that’s a problem.

I also think the move was incredibly stupid, as I’m sure you do as well but if Texas was leaving they knew they had to go to. If Texas doesn’t leave I think they are probably still in the big 12.

Being the whipping post in a 24 team league would be awful no matter the money.
You think any of the top 20ish programs in the country think...yeah absolutely zero chance we can compete. Let's just go play in the JV league. Lol you dont understand the arrogance of these programs and their fanbases.

I highly doubt 4 teams are added. Maybe two with Notre dame.

Texas also weirdly enough kinda fits with the big ten except for the geography. I’m glad they aren’t a member but at the time they were told that they would have to bring TT along with them and that was a non starter.

OU never once won the Big 12 and didnt make the playoffs. Whatre you talking about?

Yeah you’re the one that doesn’t understand. Basically everyone of those programs has had some dark times they don’t want to go back to. Georgia who everyone likes to call a blue blood for their recent success had just 1 natty in 80 years before smart went on a run.

You might be talking about some fans but you’re probably not talking about alumni as well which is a big difference

I agree with you on that. I’m saying as an ISU fan, I would not want it. We would get shoved to the side fast. Iowa fans think they belong in that class, I think they would be getting stomped on a regular basis.

There are probably 16 for sure teams that would fit in in a league like that. The last 8-12 would be brought along a teams that have a decent following but would be the 2-10/4-8 guys that are just cashing checks. I want no part of that.

From Google Oklahoma won the big12 6 times during the playoff period and only made it 4 times. If I’m wrong there feel free to let me know because I certainly could be

Maybe when there was no playoff and #1 and #2 played for the national title. Since it was a 4 team playoff I dont recall one example of that.

You highly doubted any of the PAC would end up in the Big and 4 did. These conferences have continued to grow. Until I see decades of no growth I'll assume they are going to just keep growing. I would love to see a restart and have a limit of 8 teams per league that had to work regionally, but that day is long gone.

I stopped reading at your first sentence because, you're doing it again, you're attributing words/ideas to me that I never said. I never said or implied what you're saying I did. First, I am not fine with a "super league" I think it would suck. Second, I know for a fact that Iowa would never be included in a superconference, we're not nearly a good enough program or a big enough brand. Third, it's not because Iowa wouldn't be included in a superconference that I hate the idea, it's because it would take away the excitement of those huge games when they come around... tOSU v. Michigan, Georgia v. Bama, Texas v. Oklahoma, Penn St. v. Oregon, etc. I love it when those games come around each season, and a superconference where they're happening every week would take away the magic and end up making them just another football weekend.
You are fine with a super league as long as EIU and other B10 schools are included, need weaker teams to play so they keep their blue blood status.

OU won the Big 12 a total of 6 times in the playoff era.

They made the playoff 4 of those seasons.

The first miss was after starting the season 0-2 with losses to OSU and Houston.

The other was in 2020 where they went 6-2 in conference but avenged their loss to the regular season “champion” Iowa State Cyclones in the Big 12 title game.

Your argument that “perception” of the Big 12 put them at a disadvantage is absurd if you look at the last 25 years.

Note: OSU has also made the playoff 4 of the 6 times they won their conference.

Of course, we would join. Doesn't mean that we wouldn't feel extremely dirty having done it, though. Unlike fMizzou, when they were willing to watch the Big XII burn to the ground.
Why would we feel dirty? It’s a business decision. Life is full of them.

I agree with you, I was responding to a question asking why they left, I used that as a possibility as well as the fact that Texas was leaving.

Again, I don’t think they should have left and will very quickly come to regret it unless they rapidly turn things around. If they lose to Michaign this week I would imagine the spiral continues
