A good critic will generally judge something based on how well it is achieving the style it is aiming for. Like, you wouldn't judge a dumb comedy movie the same way you'd judge an oscar contender.

I'm not here to defend him at all and I agree completely with you. The only reason I watch his reviews is because we seem to have similar tastes in Pizza. I'm not into the "char" as much as he is, but I do prefer a crispy, well done pizza, where the cheese has a good amount of brown malliard reaction to it.

That being said, his reviews are **** really, it's all about flop, how charred the bottom of the pizza looks and if it's crispy or not. There is never any talk about the flavor of the sauce or the flavor of the crust, just whether or not it's crispy. They aren't really "reviews" as much as, "This isn't my style" or "This is my style." He does get views though and places he gives high scores to, do blow up.

My pizza preference is way more in line with Portnoy vs anything Ames has to offer.
George’s was a more Midwestern style that I’ve learned to love but after they closed their Ames location I don’t think anyone does a great pizza.

I like a lunch slice from GP every once in a while and pizza pit is fine for watching a game. I tend to order geangelos for take home.

Also if you think Casey’s pizza is good please refrain from any and all pizza talk.

Pizza Pit is definitely my favorite Ames pizza, but I'm more of a thin crust fan. Great Plains has good flavor, but not really a fan of eating mostly crust.


Jeff's is trash imo, unless its 2am and you're absolutely torn out of the frame after a night out on Welch.

What’s the deal with Portnoy? I legit don’t really know who he is. Im not in tune with Barstool. I’ve tried in the past but lots of there stuff came off to me like a bunch of dooshbagery so I moved on.

My sense is that he’s a very loud bro/plays that type of character (like Pat McAfee). So that’s going to be very polarizing. Some people find it entertaining others don’t.

That being said, he has a history of other incidents which cause people to really dislike him. He “joked” that woman that are size 6 and wear skinny jeans deserve to be raped. He uses the n-word and jokes about black face. He’s been accused of sexually harassing and sexually assaulting women. And he posted a picture of Tom Brady’s two year old son naked and joked about the child’s genitals.

I would take a Jacks pizza over about anything in Ames sans Great Plains. Portnoy is biased towards NY New Haven style. I’m a ***** when it comes to style I like them all if they are done well. Ames is a pizza wasteland

Portnoy is the kind of guy you like if you also call Kirkwood “kegwood”.

Niche reference but folks from eastern IA would get it. He’s like 50 and is trying to win over 18yr old wannabe frat boys. I get it, but just makes me cringe every time I see barstool content, makes me cringe more to see someone over 30 like their content

The first time GameDay came to town, the "logistics" press release was on Tuesday. The second time, it was on Thursday.

So I'd assume that info about BNK will come out tomorrow or Thursday.
