Not looking for a battle here but why do I give two sh*ts where this guy eats pizza?
I hope so. Ames pizza is a disgrace and an embarrassment and should be called out.
The ratings he gives these places do absolute numbers for these pizza businesses. That's why.
For other opponents, sure - but for the Hawks??? Just stay on the TE.
You probably shouldn't but his one bite pizza reviews get about 5 million views each.
Love him or hate him, Dave Portney is probably the most famous food reviewer in the world right now.
Everything he does is instantly viral on social media, and this could be life changing for whatever restaurant he decides to visit.
Love it or hate it, good or bad, no pizza in Ames comes even remotely close to what Portnoy calls good pizza. He likes really well done, almost burnt, thin and ultra crispy pizza. Anyone who is a fan of the pizza in Ames better hope he goes to Des Moines. Even the one place that is unique, Great Plains, will have way too much cheese for him.

A good critic will generally judge something based on how well it is achieving the style it is aiming for. Like, you wouldn't judge a dumb comedy movie the same way you'd judge an oscar contender.

I would take a Jacks pizza over about anything in Ames sans Great Plains. Portnoy is biased towards NY New Haven style. I’m a ***** when it comes to style I like them all if they are done well. Ames is a pizza wasteland
Has anyone heard if they will hold to the 6am lot opening? Will they open early because of Big Noon?

Me thinks you are taking life a little too serious. I'm also the father of a kickass daughter in college that also has a sense of humor and likes Dave's pizza reviews and brash/funny schtick. I totally get people that don't like that type of personality but let's not go overboard and act like he's Satan.
