I have never understood the appeal of IPA. To me it tastes like skunky weed smells, which is fine, but not exactly appealing. Its not what I call refreshing in any way, but again thats just my opinion. Obviously, some really like it given its popularity.
I love a smooth stout, a nice amber, and a good ale, etc. Actually, most beer I enjoy, depending on how, why, and where I am drinking it influences my choice in that instant. But I have never liked IPA, I have never found it good for any situation, but I realize everyone has different tastes.
So all that being said, what is the appeal, what do you find good, enjoyable, refreshing about IPA? Im not trying be argumentative, Im genuinely curious.
I know there is definitely a cilantro gene, so probably hops too, why not? My daughter was asking me about it last weekend and how she could have the cilantro gene, but no one else in the family does. She’s studying Anthropology at Loyola and it was in one of her classes. I told her I have it. She was surprised because I never said anything. To which I replied, it’s because I mainly avoid it. Order food without it at a restaurant and if someone serves something with it at their house, I just suck it up and deal with it.The ironic thing is that is exactly what hops taste like to me - taking a bite out of a bar of soap. I do not get that with cilantro, though.
Fareway not helping their cause either.

I love hoppy pilsners. Or there are a couple oak aged ones that Modist (Minneapolis brewery) does that I really enjoyI used to love neipa’s but now I’d much rather have a west coast. My favorite style right now is probably hoppy pilsners.
Spotted Cow is not an overrated beerBusch produced a Copper Lager 15 years ago or so. If you had that you had a Yuengling. For the record Spotted Cow has always been overrated.
It's not, but it's also not in the top 5 of beers New Glarus bread. They make so many better beers.Spotted Cow is not an overrated beer
No political commentary but if you are the type of person who votes with their wallet, do some research on the Yuengling owner.
With the amount of good craft beer available, unless there is nothing else available I’m skipping the Yuengling.
Oh I totally agree with you there. Two women is one of my favorite and the Back 40It's not, but it's also not in the top 5 of beers New Glarus bread. They make so many better beers.
