I just got an Xbox One S from somebody selling it online. It came in the original box, no scratches, great condition, two controllers, and a power cord. I plug it in and turn it on and the console fires right up.

There are no cords to connect the controller (should there be?). And when I put two brand new lithium batteries in... nothing.

Am I missing something? Are there supposed to be cords included, or a very specialized battery for the controllers?

You don't need cords. They should connect wirelessly. Any AA batteries should work. You can try switching the batteries around (positive/negative). For some reason, I don't think there's a diagram on my son's controller (or maybe I'm just blind), so if it doesn't work, I just reverse the batteries.

When you put the batteries in and push the Xbox button in the middle/top of the controller does it light up?

Discard and purchase a PS4 :D

i think you have to sync them but id imagine they would still light up when you hit the xbox button.
