Try to get the person responsible to pay.

If not you may be able to find a door at a junkyard or from a recycler depending on what kind of vehicle you have and how common the color is. Probably a lot cheaper than bodywork, even if you pay for someone to put it on.

I learned my lesson in California. I got hit by another driver. Almost no damage to my car, more expensive damage to his because of the nature of the collision. Also, his car was much newer, and a much more expensive model. We exchanged names, etc, and he offered $100 to get the dent in my bumper popped out (more than it would have cost). He "didn't want to have to report it to his insurance, because they would skyrocket his premiums". We agreed to the deal.

He then turned around and lied to his insurance, said I hit him, and collected from our insurance. It was "he said, she said", and with no police report and him calling his insurance when we didn't report to ours, he "won". I call the cops regardless of the severity of the damage.
