Seems so to me. They are different style RBs, aren't they? Hansen is a power runner, seems to me. Big, fast, strong, bull.

CMC is smaller, fast, tough, dynamic with his quickness running style.

Maybe I've got it wrong. I'm new to the 49ers.

Have you seen what CMac did in college?

It has a feel of “let’s write about many dozens of players who might have a huge breakout season. When just one of them pans out, we can refer to the article to say ‘See… we told you so! Follow us to get the inside scoop first!’”

He averaged around 11 carries at 4.7 ypc. That's good for a down year with injuries.
I'm a little curious to see Sama's median yards per carry. Sama is the type of player who will get 1-2 yards a lot but then bust a big run.

I prefer to have a RB who has a median of 3-4 yards per carry. These runners are consistent and will help move the chains regularly

It's a metric I think often gets overlooked IMO

He's not big enough to be that kind of back IMO. Also, he gets met in the backfield often due to leaky line syndrome. Something ISU has left untreated for decades.

I'd also like to see if it hot better as the season went on because it seemed to...maybd he got better at the reads etc.

They lined him up at receiver a bit and I was hoping they could figure out how to get him the ball in space more.

It was pretty feast or famine but imo it's tricky to not have that kind of speed on the field.

He was also injured most of the year.

Sama reminds me of Kene Nwangwu. Elite speed, but the fb instincts aren’t there. Sometimes it’s fine to get your 3 yards instead of trying to bounce it outside. It took Kene until his SR year to be patient enough to see the hole and hit it. Abu is on the same path.

Agreed. Hansen seemed to do a better job of making a move to shed the first tackler IMO. He seemed to be the more consistent back

I like Hansen and he proved he can make the boundary on long runs a couple times last year. If he had a bit more straight line speed he would be all world. Sama is a home run hitter. I would love for it to be like the Lion's backfield.
