Workout Sites - Ames

I’ll be returning to the land of Cy later this week and am curious if anyone has suggestions for gyms in Ames. I’m looking for early hours, free weights and ideally north Ames but that’s not a must. Open Thursday would be nice, Friday/Saturday a must.

The google machine lists Athletic Club of Ames & Ames Fitness Center as possible sites.

Based on your suggestions I will call them to inquire about holiday hours.

Know nothing about the gym, but Planet Fitness at North Grand Mall seems like it would meet your criteria.

This is for Ames Fitness. The North one is in Somerset.

I just looked this up, is this the JC Penny's or Younkers location? Central mall or north end?
If I recall from my day, Sears was on the south end.

There's a small gym in the Ames City Hall building thats open to the public. But its got newer equipment and I've never seen more than 3 other people lifting at the same time. I use that when I visit. They have a cardio room too.

In the old Younkers along with Dunham's Sporting Goods. Looking at website, they are open T-giving and have free weights.
