I wonder if there's some weird loophole where they provide cold water or something and then it's your fault you didn't hydrate.

Or is it a misunderstanding from the boss. Could it have been said that WC isn’t going to cover heat exhaustion(since it’s a tough thing to prove and generally short term) so make sure people are hydrating and not over heating and that boss either took it wrong or announced it like he shouldn’t have?

It's not just about hydrating. Your body gets into this cycle and can't cool off. It has a lot do with over exertion. It can take several weeks to recover.

Im thinking the boss is more throwing it out as a threat so people do keep hydrated and take breaks. No way can he paint a brush that WC isnt going to cover all heat related issues.

Absolutely. Most heat strokes in the work environment are exertional heat strokes and new people who aren't allowed to properly acclimatize to the heat. One of the best things an employer can do is lower the work load during high temps, but many places want to hear nothing of that.

Ass hole boss. Some people sweat faster than they can put it back in their body (that's me). Once you get there you can't keep it down and continually vomit. It's the same old **** on construction. Everyone just trying to mitigate liability. No one gives a flying **** about other human beings anymore.

Same here about over active sweating. I work in a kitchen and most summer days I come home with my shirt drenched like I just got out of a pool. Makes me hate this time of year now.

I'm going to go with this hopefully as being what happened. Someone misheard something that was said in a morning meeting and it just got relayed wrong.

for the OP, when you say your "boss", what level is he at? Lead Man, Shop Foreman, Shop manager, VP of Ops?

I can't count the number of times me or my general super has said something in a 6:45 meeting and by the time I'm chatting with some of the guys at 8:30 it's completely different.

That's heat exhaustion. No such thing as minor case of heat stroke. You can die from it.
