Since my heart attack, I do not have the stamina to spend a full day of outdoor activities, so I venture into the shop for a little less physical activity.
When making some projects, I often make duplicate pieces that take multiple set ups to construct in case I find flaws in the wood during the next cut or I mess one up so I don’t have to go through the same procedure to get back where I’m at. Eventually, you end up with a stack of leftovers and cut-offs.
My latest project involved, taking these pieces, adding some glue, Subjecting them to the table saw, the Sander, and slapping it on the lathe to create this bowl. The pattern was limited to what I had available to remain somewhat symmetric. Regardless, I won’t have to share the popcorn bowl again!
Excellence.

Had a piece of crown molding I tried to incorporate in this bowl and was slightly disappointed that the joint between the two pieces didn’t end up tighter. Also, the diamonds within would maybe have been more appealing if I would have used maple surrounded by walnut rather than Purple Heart for better contrast. Don’t know if noticeable in the pictures but the side by side diamonds in the walnut end up being a single diamond on the inside of the bowl. Trying to center each layer of the glue up is critical to maintaining pattern symmetry.
This one will probably end up by washing machine so the wife can empty my pockets of nails, change, etc before she does her thing.

Those of you with table saws, I just bought the Bow Products fence kit. Jessum roller guides.
Nice setup to make my job site sized saw seem bigger.

With it being so hot out side spent some time inside to finish off the shadow box. Here's a completed video of the lights in action.

Dang, those lights really brighten it up. I almost couldn't stand to look at it. ;)

In other words, it is a black screen to me (wouldn't open).

Has anybody retired their tablesaw with a tracksaw? I have only fired up my table saw like once in the last couple years since I've mostly been woodturning. I feel like I could easily get rid of it and not miss much especially if I replaced it with a tracksaw. I'd like to have the floorspace in my garage for a project car.

Either way I think I need to do some work or re-arranging my floorplan in that garage stall. I looked at adding a stall but got a couple of eff off quotes back and gave up on that idea.

I use the kregg rip guide for most of my rips now. So much easier especially when you're not in a shop.

I sold my large table saw and bought a flex volt track and jobsite table saw.

I think Milwaukee makes cordless for both now as well and Milwaukee can do dado (unlike Dewalt).

I only have a track saw. Once every couple of years I'll run into a job where I need to make a bunch of repetitive cuts but I end up just borrowing a job saw. After using the track saw for the last few years, a table saw would be near the bottom of my list of tool purchases.

I've got the Makita cordless with Powertec tracks.
