Today was the 1st step in making the committee ignore (or at least account for differently) our games without Milan.

Houston had other injuries.

ISU was playing very well and then continued to play well in the NCAAs.

But the weeks leading up to the B12 tourney the narrative was back to 'they're burned out, tired legs' etc. because they had close wins and lost at KSU.

I agree and to add to this: Iowa State, I think, has historically overperformed in the conference tournament. Further, I don’t have data to back this up, but I would be shocked if there was a clear correlation btw relative conference tournament play and NCAA tournament performance looking across all teams.

The conference tournament is a weird atmosphere, and is largely discounted by teams the seeding committee. I think Iowa state fans overestimate its importance due to our historical success there, and using conference tournaments as a measuring stick of which teams are ‘on a roll’ is silly.
