Nebraska's AD needs to get extremely creative. They have to be in one of the worst coaching situations in the country. I don't recall the details but I remember Hoiberg having some crazy deal that essentially makes it impossible for them to get rid of him. Frost also has a huge buy out. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Must be hard to know your teams are going to suck and there's nothing you can do about it for a while.
Pollard has been a blessing to us. He has made several great hires and has been able to find people who love this university.
Both hoiberg and frost renegotiated their contracts after last year. Lowered payments and buyouts.
I heard he has to walk home, but since he is the coach at fabled kNU he can walk on water so it is not an issue.
No, they had to do it. Both are trying to hold on otherwise they would have had to rebuild their careers. Take a little less to hopefully buy you two instead of one year. Either one gets let go now and Fred isn’t getting any other P6 or nba HCing jobs and frost will have to drop to an OC job and work through the G5 ranks again.

I though Frost's buyout goes down to like $7 million after October 1st. That's pretty doable.

I almost feel bad for them in a way. Imagine having the history and perception of your program like they do, as a fan. To wake up on the first day of every season and think, "Maybe this is the year..." only to **** the bed and have your hopes and dreams dashed to pieces before the season even starts.
Only comparable thing I can think of as an ISU fan is losing week 1 to UNI or North Dakota State
I'm not much older than you. 33. I have foggy memories of Eric Crouch winning the Heisman and Nebraska routinely winning the Big 12 North, but getting their asses handed to them, generally, by the good a South teams. Towards the end of their Big 12 days, I have more vivid memories of the 8- turnover ISU game, and Paul Rhoads coming up a 2-pt conversion short of beating them to get isu bowl eligible. That one stung. Missouri and Colorado had been winning a few north titles though, and Kansas St was nipping at their heels too. Their demise was imminent, move to the Big 10 or not.
The game that broke the Nebraska football program imo was 11/23/2001 vs. Colorado in Boulder. They got obliterated which was crazy at the time.
Ever since that day, the decline has been in place. I think Bo Pelini demonstrated what a pretty good coach could do in the modern CFB landscape with Nebraska, but once Tom Osborne was forced out as AD, Pelini was fired shortly thereafter.
Unfortunately, if you've been an ISU fan for very long, you know what this feels like.
Frank Solich was 58-19 in 6 seasons. His last team won 10 games if I remember.
