Will Breece be traded?

I know everyone just assumes Breece will walk after this season, but they are going to have a lot of money to throw at him if they really want to keep him. They are going to want weapons like Breece and Wilson for whatever rookie QB they are going to draft next year. Winning is great but if they are willing to make him one of the highest paid RBs he may be willing to stay.
Hall has done nothing but lose his entire four years in NY, he has to want to play in the playoffs and a chance to win. He also has to know that his time is limited the league and getting a good deal with a winning team is more important than getting every dollar and staying in NY and keep losing for another 3 or 4 years.

Time will tell. I'm sure the Jets will try to sell him on their vision and how they are going to turn the franchise around. That and 12 million a year may start to sound awfully convincing. Who knows. I'm just not going to assume there is zero chance he stays with the Jets. They seem to want him to stay.

They could tag him next year too if he doesn't sign. So no guarantee he leaves after this season.

I don’t know if they do or don’t want to keep him long term. I think he was hostage that got shot type of deal. The Jets were clearly shopping him. They have to show the league that they are willing to keep a guy if they don’t get the price they want to hold negotiating power. They got enough out of the Gardner trade that it took the pressure away to move assets because they didn’t come away empty handed and showed they were serious on their asking prices.

unless the Jets tag him so he get stuck there for another year.

He's only made $4.3 million so far on his rookie deal.

The RB tag would be like what $15 million per year or something?

Why would they do that when they are rebuilding? It really makes little sense that they did not move him, even if it was only for a 4th round pick. Hate it when teams that throw in the towel like the Jets did today, not just go all in and sell every assist you have to be better in the future. The tickets are already sold for this season, and with a good draft you can sell hope for 2027 and the future.

Maybe they hope Breece's prime and their window to compete will have a few seasons of overlap. They have a lot of draft capital now. If they bring in a lot of talent and can "hit" on a quarterback they could turn it around quickly. Retaining one of the best RBs in the league could help with that process.

He's gotta start making his money soon. He's already had one major knee injury.

Lotta talented RBs are going to be on the open market.

Its why Hall should have pushed it and announce the would not be signing with the team after the season. Garrett from Cleveland wanted out and then resigned for money, how has that worked out for him now. One year into the new deal and he is already complaining about the Browns not winning.
Hall is going into his 5th year next season, the time when a back should be at his peak performance for at least the next 3 seasons. No reason he will not be getting a lot of money thrown his way when he becomes a FA.

This movie has happened over and over again. The conventional wisdom is 'he probably wants to go to a playoff team' but that typically only comes into the decision if the money is really, really close. This will be his first big contract. He will pick the biggest deal even if it's the Saints or Titans or literally any team who wants to spend a premium contract on a RB, regardless of their current situation.

One of the many chattering TV pundits said they were offered a 4 that could turn into a 3 and they held firm for 3.

It was that close.

According to that article I linked outside of CMC even getting a 4th rounder for a running back is unprecedented in recent history, let alone a 3rd.

And now the Jets will get nothing when he signs elsewhere in the off-season
Could potentially net a compensatory pick in 2027. With the Jets having over $70 million in dead cap next year and a boat load of draft picks, I don't see them as being big FA players next year. If Breece signs a decent deal elsewhere, the Jets could benefit.

Let's hop he doesn't let his ass show too much here. In the end, he's under contract and bad team or not, it's your job to play.
Agreed. I can't imagine the Jets not dealing him even if they don't get the picks they want. A RB isn't in the same league in terms of value as a franchise QB, tackle, or defensive lineman. If they had one of them I could see holding on to them. If I'm someone like the Steelers I'm looking to bring in a guy like Breece. As a Chiefs fan I think we're alright at RB and need the picks.
