I want to know why we never run a two post game? Young is never going to be a premier "big guy", but as the second big guy his talent is endless. Conditt is coming on, but he doesn't have Young''s physicality. Together they would be amazing. And, Jacobson is disappearing this year because we are not utilizing what he has to offer. Big 12 is more than ready for our 3 guard (and 4 guard) show.

You aren't watching the same Solomon Young I am if you really think his talent is endless. He's an undersized guy with no offensive game to speak of and unfortunately hasn't developed much from his freshman year.

Conditt is raw. Expected for an underclassman.

Jacobson has to be awesome offensively because he's putrid defensively and he's certainly not awesome offensively right now.

I’m thinking Jacobson must have some issues going on we don’t know about because his value on the floor is about that of a 4 year old.
He isnt close to being the same player as last year. Something has to be going on.

Yeah; it makes all of us wonder. He was solid last year, but did seem to plateau and regress this year. I was surprised to see him on the bench for the last few possessions of the game.

Jacobsen's position has been a 5 and now they're asking him to play 4 and he can't do it. He's not hitting shots and can't keep up with the person he's defending on the other end. Because of that, I think soon we'll see a small lineup again.

Yesterday this lineup got a lot of run, so I expect it to return at some point:
(in no particular positional order)
Bolton
Nixon
Jackson
Haliburton
Conditt

I think with KU coming to town with their size we'll probably see the same starters again though.

If I were coach, I would do this as the starting lineup:
Bolton
Nixon
Lewis
Haliburton
Conditt

He has to be injured or has an illness he's playing through. Ive never seen a player regress this bad in one season since Ive been watching Iowa State.

4 guard lineup seems to be the best option for this team.
Rebounding doesnt seem to be affected, which is pretty glaring...

Which would be trying to match up to KU, instead of creating the mismatch, which is classic CSP.

If the same starters are out there Wednesday, CSP has lost his mind.

Jacobson transferred here because he wanted to play the 4. Unfortunately, he is more suited for the 5.

If you trot out a 4 guard lineup against KU their 2 big lineup will eat us alive inside. It might work if Tre would start making some 3's but without that they would eat us alive.

They just had a piece on ESPN about this in the NBA, post touches are down overall, they are a dying part of the game. It gets covered up by the idea that big players are more skilled today but in reality, they are less skilled. Post moves take more practice and coaching that shooting and dribbling. It gets talked about over and over again but club ball, aau etc...aren't typically coached by great coaches. People who don't know the fundamentals of post play are the ones teaching young kids the game.

And analytics guys say that post feeds into the block are the least efficient play in basketball.

Which has a lot to do with what I said, coaching, the game changed because of how its taught to young players, they don't have the skills to make those plays more effective. Whats odd though is, with this type of analytic mindset, shots in the paint are still encouraged, we just want different guys taking those interior shots in a different manner.

How many analytics guys have coached college or pro ball? Analytics are a tool not the end all. Post touches are a critical element of any half court offense. Just as important as quality 3 point shooters. The play off each other.
