Why no Post Offense? It really is simple. Because Solo has been a ***** all year. The dude is built like a Brick **** House and plays softer than Baby ****.

I love the guy. I thought we would be so much better inside than previous years it would make up for outside deficiencies. That is simply not the case because one of the strongest dudes on the team is built like Tarzan but plays like Jane.

Against TCU Solo, Jake and Conditt combined for 11 boards. Hali had 12. Nuff Said

Usually, people have to be taught and challenged to improve their skills. As mentioned previously in the thread, post play isn't really taught or developed anymore in the "get noticed" leagues. Do any of the ISU posts ever attend big-man camps? As I recall, all three of the above mentioned post players were on Cap City League rosters last summer. I doubt that they learned anything about playing the post or rebounding there.

really? You don’t avg 13ppg in big 12 in the post if you aren’t skilled.. Two things:

1- 3pt line moving back badly affected MJ
2- MJ played the 5 last year and this year is on the wing playing the 4 and playing completely out of position..

that’s why

When did Jacobson average 13ppg in the Big12? He didn't even average double figure scoring in Big12 play.

It probably says something about me, but I read the end of that sentence as "softer than Baby Shark."

 :D

We will see if this happens but I just heard of a interesting lineup wrinkle that has been worked on in practice with good results. Person was actually surprised it wasn't used on Saturday but hopefully it gets shown Weds.

If it is I think people will like it.
Go on...

If it's what you say, I love it. Especially later this year.

No one appreciates Solo more than me, but his talent is anything but endless. He is a solid physical presence, but he isn't tall enough to play the 5 and not quick/skilled enough to play the 4. Just kinda stuck in between.

He has a role: to play some defense, get some rebounds, and take out the trash on offense. And you have to have that guy on your team, but he should be the 6th or 7th guy, not a starter.

As far as Jacobson. Similar situation, imho. Not skilled or physical enough (quickness) to play the 4 and not tall enough to play the 5. Well maybe tall enough, but the staff has him designated as the 4. Last year he avg 11 and 6; he scored double digits 11 times in the non-con (out of 13 games), but only 8 times (out of 21) in Big12 play (incl in KC). Against quality opponents, he just can't consistently succeed at the 4.

I think both of them would have been better off to be developed as pure 5s.
Let's keep in mind he's had 3 surgeries (shoulder, knee, and groin) in the last 12 -18 months as well. Dude is as tough as they come.
