the Slow starts IMO don't have anything to do with a spring game as there is an entire summer to go through.
If there was something flawed planning wise I'd say it was more in the lead up to the start of the season during the fall and summer where we were not peaking at the right time or even in the play calling and game planning of those games. Not having a spring game in April is not going to effect much in September, especially when a good percentage of people who may be playing are not going to be participating in said spring game (transfers, traditional summer enrolles in terms of recruits , jucos etc) or just who get dinged up during winter conditioning, hold over injuries from the end of the season or the guys who get dinged during spring practice itself.
