Whorns Down

Just a random observation from the game yesterday...Nearly every time they showed fans on video boards, they would make the "horns down" gesture. I get that if we are actually playing Texas. But, why do we feel the need to use a derogatory gesture targeting a soon to be former league member when we are playing someone else? I had absolutely zero thoughts about Texas when I entered the stadium.

The University of Texas and Oklahoma University are leaving our conference. Life as the University as we know it as Iowa State University may never be the same from a financial standpoint because of it. Those two schools' actions may cost the jobs and livelihoods of countless University employees from not just our University but also from the 7 other Universities UT and OU are leaving behind. And you don't understand why someone is giving the horns down sign, even though we're not playing them??? ISU, along with every other remaining Big XII University should be giving the horns down sign every single chance they see fit!

It is the definition of derogatory...I assume no one is doing it to show their love for Texas. I'm sure the actual decision makers in Texas are going to see it and change their minds about leaving if everyone does Horns Down when they are playing non conference FCS opponents.

BTW, I am not picking on you just replying to the last of many posts that think I invented calling the sign derogatory.

Would you rather have us just give them the middle finger instead so your accusation of derogatory actually fits the description....

I don’t give a **** if anyone thinks it’s “derogatory”. By the way, it’s not. Horns down all day long. I agree with a previous poster. Don’t buy new UT or OU merchandise to make a statement piece. Either hand make it or buy used. Do not let those schools make more money on it.

Our band should either lower OU and UT’s flags or drop them on the ground and leave them in the end zone when they march all the conference flags out before kickoff…now that’s a statement.

Also, we should not display their flags anywhere outside our stadium.

I think it's funny because Texas fans get so upset about it. It's such a silly gesture, and they take it very personally.
