I've always looked at PER (Player Efficiency Rating) in these kind of arguments. It's not a perfect stat but it aligns with my opinions on the teams.

Sum of each team's PER, player's best season at ISU:

Team 1- 142.4
Team 2- 145.2
Team 3- 168.4
Team 4- 139.6
Team 5- 157.5

Give me team 4 with Jared Homan since there is no center currently on that team

Team 2. Royce is a huge mismatch. Halliburton would average like 10 assists a game with that team. And Babb as a lock down defender.

From best to worst:
Team 2
Team 1
Team 5
Team 3
Team 4

Same rationale for me. Team 2 simply because Royce was essentially un-guardable. I felt like all around play would be slightly better on Team 2 as well as Babb defense people seem to forget about. It was a struggle for me between 1 & 2 but ultimately I think Team 2 has just enough of a gap to pull it out.

It’s 1 or 2, team 5 would be the most entertaining and would need quite the coach.
Kane and Brockington as the alphas on that team mean everyone is staying in check.

Team 2 is being held back by the fact that Haliburton's sophomore year he was surrounded by scrubs. He could have averaged 5+ more assists with Monte's senior team

I'm not making a selection until the original mid-range maestro Jeff Beverly is added to one of the rosters and then I'll pick that team.

Team 2 and Team 3 would be really tough to beat though. Team 2 would have an assist on every single made basket with Royce and Tyrese together. A backcourt with Monte, Marial, Tyrus and Talen would be a PROBLEM for anyone trying to keep people from scoring off the bounce.

My issue with team 5 is how many left the program. Lard and Godfrey were probably both top 5 bigs in terms of controlling the paint for us and both had negative exits. Lindell was just weird. And Bolton gets **** on by some insiders for his ability to be a teammate.

From a pure basketball standpoint, Team 5 beats every team, easily. But even Steve Kerr didn’t enjoy getting punched in the face by Michael Jordan.

Team 5 for me. I get 4 pure bucket-getters, Weiler-Babb to create/distribute to them, and Lard with his head on straight that no one from any of the other teams outside of Hogue wants to mess with.

Seriously, though, among this group, I think Hogue or Ejim would be best at defending Royce. Both would be undersized and give up quite a bit of strength, though. They'd have to make up for that in toughness. Young would actually be interesting. One of his better defensive skills was being able to switch onto guys on the perimeter, so maybe he'd be quick enough.
