Your annual reminder that Matt Campbell’s teams start the season slow, and that he can’t beat Iow……..

I'll admit I was not feeling good about our chances at halftime. Felt very lucky it was just 13-0 because it felt like 21-0. The thing that frustrated me the most was how predictable and vanilla our offense looked in the 1st half. Pretty much gave it to Sama on most 1st down plays and didn't try anything deep when Iowa had their defense setup to defend all the short stuff we were calling. That pass to Noel for the TD was the first time all game we tested their secondary on a deep play and felt like after we did that we should have come right back out on our next drive with a play action with a deep route to see if they were expecting another 1st down run and hopefully burn them deep again. Some of our best throws today were ones where we looked past 10 yards and caught the Iowa defense out of place as they were sitting on the screen passes and run plays.

The thing going forward is this team needs to take this big win and the momentum that comes with it and keep building on this because we should be 4-0 going into the Baylor game. It sucks we have a bye week already but maybe that helps get us a little more healthy at LB. This win will mean nothing if we don't come out strong on offense from opening kickoff in the Big 12 because we have a tough schedule ahead of us, especially on the backend with 3 of the last 4 games of the season against teams currently ranked in the top 20. We usually are playing our best late in the season but we have to take care of business in the first half of our conference schedule to have a chance at a special season.

I kept my faith pretty well, but I did vent to a friend over txt. Those goal line stands and the 2pt conversion stop were huge. Porter and Orange may have made some future money in this game. I was encouraged by what I saw from the offensive line. Now 2-4 weeks for some guys to heal up. I don't think Arky St or Houston are going to take our best to beat.

I didn’t give up on them but was VERY frustrated the first half. Don’t know if I’ll ever not insert nut cup in a game like that though. Old cyclones miss that kick. Well actually old cyclones lose that game 48-0

I'll eat quasi-crow as I figured an Iowa win with some plays left out there.

All was going according to script in the series as of late including that dropped INT but in the end, ISU got downfield in a very un-CMC style last offensive series and then they just lined up and got the FG in workman like fashion.

I'll have to rewatch but as bad as much as the field was tilted for Iowa most of the first half, there were a couple of plays in there where ISU started chipping away and were simply better after that.
