What's up with scheduling?

First Month

Or, mayhaps,

Fiestonth is an old, old wooden ship that I believe was used during the Civil War era
Fiestonth is the unholy fusion of fiesta and mammoth. A massive, sombrero-clad, woolly creature that smells like Mickey’s basement, regret, and microwaved tuna. It thunders into town like a cyclone fueled by fire sale Keystone Ice and bad decisions, leading a conga line of Kirkwood Hawkeye fans with a taste for petty crime and Jason Aldean karaoke.

Wherever it goes, Fiestonth leaves behind a trail of spaghetti confetti, questionable twerking moves, and puddles of unknown substance. Even the combined strength of three FarmHouse brothers—armed with promises to visit their hometown girlfriends ever weekend—can’t hope to wrangle it.

The only known way to tame this beast is with an overflowing sack of TriDelta covfefe.

Missouri players might have arrest warrants out for them after what they did to Mississippi Valley State tonight. And here I was thinking we had beat them pretty good...

If the Cyclone team takes care of business during Thanksgiving week the previous rankings won't make a lick of difference. There is plenty of quality there for ISU to get national notice if they manage to win it all.
Yeah, between that and Marquette, we have way more opportunities than last year to build a strong non conference resume for the committee

Looks like Mississippi Valley has a win this year against Mississippi University for Women. Didn’t know if they actually played women to get a win, but looks like they have a men’s team.

games played before maui

isu 3
auburn 4
unc 4
cu 4
uconn 4
memphis 4
msu 5
dayton 5
okay, that matters. One or two more games is kind of a big difference this early in the year. Add to it some of these team are battle tested by playing tough teams before even arriving in Maui. Memphis, UNC, Michigan State and Auburn are going to be battle tested. Even Dayton has played a power team in Northwestern. Floor time matters early in the year and floor time against better teams prepares you better for something like this tournament. So because of how we have schedule, we are at a disadvantage going in. I think we won't be ready.

Teams will bounce up and down a ton in the first few weeks of the season. I'm not worried about it. If we keep on slipping because we're only playing one game a week until Maui, it's not going to ruin us. The season is long enough that we'll be where we deserve to be at the end of the season.

The part that I hate is being bored waiting for the next game until things pick up. With the way the football season is starting to go, I need something exciting to watch. Maui will be great and can't wait to watch all of the games. With the teams in that tournament we will be ranked accordingly after the tournament.

JFC, just saw the box score. Caleb Grill looks like a scoring machine when he comes in. He has 48 points in his last 49 minutes played. I'm hoping he keeps his head on straight and can have a good season for Mizzou.

If we sweep Auburn, Carolina, and UConn all in one week, we better be ranked #1. DESERVE to be ranked #1.

Well considering the espn box score and the fact that the player profile pics for them are all blank, maybe they did play a team of women

And are they the Mississippi University for women Shields?

Chris said they have a very deliberate scheduling plan early in the year. Softies a week apart is not ideal for fans. I guess they think it’s good for development. We’ll see if they’re prepared for the Maui tournament. If they don’t get some high major W’s in the noncon they’ll get punished at tournament seeding like they did last season.

I wouldn't be too sure. All of those wins would occur in the same poll week and poll voters are reluctant to move teams up or down too much in a single week.

It shouldn't matter, but it might.

Northwestern is a power team? Didn’t they have to play overtime to beat Eastern Illinois?

they are in a power 5 conference (Big 10, ACC, SEC, Big East, Big 12), so yes.

Is the Big 12 dropping back down to 18 men's games next season? No more 20?
