I am not complaining on this being called or not called. These are human beings it happens.

I just want to know, why there is very little consistency. Consistency between games or even in game. Watch the TT game, I see calls that are against ISU, but not TT for doing the same things. It is somewhat frustrating as a fan when things are so unbalanced.

It has happened in other games to the favor of ISU.

The only thing I ask, is please be consistent. Again, human beings that will miss things. Just please... be consistent with the calls.

I really struggle to watch ISU road games for this reason. CBB officiating absolutely favors the home team. There are calls against us in road games that are infuriating, but also some head scratches that go our way in Hilton.

A great example today was late. Gilbert gets called on a strip on Williams, it was actually a clean strip. I looked like it could be a foul but it wasn’t. I understand the call being made. Fast forward to Gilbert driving in that final stretch and Hawkins bodies him, comes across the arms and the ball goes out of bounds with no call. It should have been foul #5 on Hawkins and FTs. Instead we are inbounding. There were many other samples. What’s frustrating is we don’t get the home cooking in Hilton, many of the same types of examples.

I honestly don't see us getting anywhere near the tilted whistle that most other Big 12 teams get at home, but perhaps I'm blinded by my homer glasses.
I disagree. ISU generally gets a pretty good home whistle - the fans in Hilton make sure of it.

I was getting pretty frustrated at some points in the game today but as I said to Mrs. Velo and my daughter, I guess that is life on the road in the Big 12.

Let's just hope that it continues to hold on Wednesday and KU doesn't get their home whistle even while on the road.

It’s like everyone forgets what college basketball is every year during the off season. College basketball has almost always had a heavy home bias in officiating.

It has become a more difficult sport to officiate in recent decades, because team rosters and play styles are drastically different from team to team.

Consider a team like Iowa playing a team like Houston. That game is going to look very different in Houston than in Iowa City with the whistle favoring the home team in both. As long as that is consistent I don’t really mind a ****** whistle on the road.

Now a team like KU can **** off with their home whistle on the road, and their super home whistle at home.

One thing I’ve noticed that drives me nuts in WBB and MBB is the “someone fell down so there must be a foul” call.

Happened in the game today when Lipsey fell down and the TT player fell on him.

Happened in the women’s game against Utah where two players jumped for the ball and ran into each other hard.

Just because someone falls down or there is a collision does not automatically mean there was a foul committed.

Sounds like you’re referring to the play where Heise was called for his 5th foul. Gilbert’s move was clean. Heise raked across the arm from behind.

Either Lipsey was fouled and that is why he fell down or he fouled the player who tripped and fell on him because lying on the floor is not a legal guarding position. Kind of like how Flopper Marcus Smart tried to flop his way into a foul on Kane that one time and as soon as he went down Kane drove into him since lying on the floor is not a legal guarding position.

Heise got that foul I believe.

Yeah. Lipsey slipped. They were more likely reviewing that play to see if they thought he flopped.
